Dervla Murphy, whose account of bicycling alone across Eurasia in the early 60s is some of my favorite travel writing ever, apparently biked around Northern Ireland in the mid 70s to see what was going on. Found this at a yard sale and excited to dig in.

BookishMarginalia Looks great! Enjoy! 8y

Self-Assertion for Women | Pamela E. Butler

Found this freeboxed gift waiting for me when I got home from work the other day. There are a number of amazing things about this book but mostly I just can't stop boggling about the cover and title development. Is anyone familiar with this? #vintageselfhelp #fullyhuman

Cyn.Microcosm I've never heard of it, but it looks so interesting -- I love the androgynous = "fully human" note! Too real! 8y

Pickpick

One of the best music biographies I've ever read, intensely evocative of a time and a place. You could read it as a business book, a celebrity bio, or a sociology of how the US got to be such a hostile police state for so many of our people. And it really brings out the poetry and power of rap music. Jay-Z and ghostwriter dream hampton knocked this one out of the park.

Tom from the wonderful bookstore Artifacts in Hood River, likes to drop by Microcosm HQ with gifts and stories. Today he brought us fresh picked huckleberries and Orwell's novel about a woman finding freedom on a bicycle.

Can't lie, we have the most fun. This guide to Beverly Cleary's neighborhood in Portland, where some of her best-loved books are set, is still a pleasure to work on every day.

Pickpick

My favorite nonfiction book about the redemptive qualities of humans. Solnit makes a compelling case that disasters bring out the best in us, but that's not what the world's elite want us to believe.
