Mature and nuanced romance. It‘s the story of a woman who is determined to be honest with herself, as well as others. Female friendships are well handled. The protagonists are respectful of each other as they navigate the historical setting. #romantsy
This not the fast-paced, action-packed space adventure I was expecting. It is much more character driven. It is thoughtful in its portrayals of the different bonds we build with the people who surround us, whether we are the same or very different.
I love a good short story. The Paper Menagerie was excellent. In the 20 minutes it took to reader, this story broke my heart. Read it!!
I forgot how much I liked this book. It takes place over a six-year period, but it doesn't drag. Anne and the residents of Avonlea reminded me how important it is to approach life with a little imagination.
"The world is full of talkers, but it is rare to find anyone who listens. And I assure you that you can pick up more information when you are listening than when you are talking." #lifelessons
Funny, insightful, and engaging. This book drew me in and touched me more than I anticipated. It encouraged me to be more fearless and more kind. What a nice surprise.
Interesting, educational, and illustrated. I have the sort of curly hair that rejects and unsettles head coverings of any kind. This means hats are a bit of a mystery to me. I'm having a great time researching headwear for men and women in the past.
How does @JuliaQuinn pull me in again and again? Write characters that I want to know. Spending my time with Daphne and Simon was a joy!
Margaret and Rhys had all the makings of a great slow burn friends-to-lovers romance. Whereas the other two books in the Winner Takes All series had a particular "game" and "lie" as the catalyst, there was no "dare" in this story. For much of the book Margaret pushed herself past her own boundaries while Rhys resigned himself to his fate. I would have liked both of them fight equally as they discover they want to be more than friends. #romantsy
La Reine Margot takes place in the French Court of Charles IX (1572). It is full of intrigue, betrayal, passion... There's even a death by book! Alexandre Dumas wrote an engrossing tale. My romantic heart only wishes the love story was between people who were free to be together.
This is a romance where both characters are admirable, honourable, and accomplished. The characters have been through a lot and are determined to thrive no matter what life throws at them. They could each be successful on their own, but they find that sharing a life is much better. Cathy Maxwell gave me all the feels here! #romantsy
Ten years of research! Reading this book feels a little like cheating... I'll add it to my winter reading list.
Responsible, gallant hero is losing his hearing and must request lip reading lessons from a very tall, untrusting woman at the World's Fair in Chicago. I enjoy learning while I read.
Loved this story. Although, maybe not the best choice before #NaNoWriMo. Between the notice at the beginning and the ending "If I'd knowed what a trouble it was to write a book I wouldn't a tackled it". Yikes!
