I devoured this book. Disclaimer: I am a WWII fiction and nonfiction aficionado! I will read everything and anything. Not kidding! It took a while for me to get to this title and I thought is was a taut thriller and perhaps one of the recent best researched novels of the time and place. I was transported happily as a reader and unhappily as a human being.

Just a question really for the community...do others read and/or interact more readily with a post (review, blurb, quote) if a picture is present? Curious about others preferences. Thanks.

A page turner and is so relevant and somehow timely IMO

While waiting for the next Maggie Hope title I dug in to the Dobbs series 1-3. I enjoyed them. Maisie, like Maggie, is a formidable character: spunky, smart, making her way in a man's world in a time when not easy or accepted. The best part is the fact that the series is atmospheric, well researched and the time and place transports me. Suspending moving on to 4 but will come back for more.

"I was almost twelve years old when I decided to kill my parents." Must say that is a disarming and good first line. Just begun. Anyone else reading?

Seemed like needed reading post election to better understand folks that don't live in large cities and on the coasts. Insightful and poised memoir. Moving on to White Trash. Both titles seem pejorative but certainly not for Vance.

Once again Larson writes an accessible fantastic nonfiction. He has brought history to vivid life through these seemingly secondary, or lesser known persons. For me history is more compelling because of these perspectives and stories told along side the times luminary persons.

As I read this script I thought about whether this was a "darker and more frightening" addition to the HP canon. Also how this play is being staged - seems rather complicated.

Fantastic memoir. Yes about surfing but also about a man's journey to understanding and acceptance of his own self.

All I want to relay is...read this beautiful novel. Character, writing, plot and everything else is perfect.

Only through the first chapter and it is awesome! Compelled to pickup after hearing interview on NPR. Looking forward to MORE.

About 1/3 through this novel. Read a lot of + reviews and so far I am enjoying it but I have a but-just don't know what it is. Something is missing. The pace and action are on pt. The main character is showing growth and her story arc is satisfying and holds promise. I think I need more fireman!

Such a well-written, beautifully paced novel. Not able to pick one fav character. All fully realized and fleshed out. I was happily/sadly surprised with the final twist😳 read and enjoy! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

While sitting in a surgical waiting room finally able to make a huge dent. Love the writing. I get sucked in with every para. So satisfying and interesting.

Finished 2nd of 3 retelling/reimagining novels of classics. Trollope's take felt smoother, more like the original, a better homage to Austin. However, this Ed Ferras is a dullard. That relationship was hard to buy.

On a roll: re-imaginings of classics. Just finished Eligible next Emma by McCall Smith. So far this retelling is smoother, less jarring than Eligible. I may develop a thesis of the criteria for best retelling practices😜

My first post: 😳. I have just begun this book and so far I want to know more and more. I love nonfiction writing that reads like fiction. Absorbing and truly interesting.
