My perpetual book slump reared its head again but I was pleasantly jolted out of it by this lovely book. Great banter, ridiculous Rom com setups but most importantly characters that are endearing in navigating the way around love

When you are in the middle of a book slump, go back to favourite authors and Cathy Maxwell did not disappoint. I like easy flowing prose and a plot that is neither too complicated for dramatic purposes nor characters that are problematic to be believable in romance. A second chance, enemies to lovers book whose destiny woven by by a bid on a prized stallion. I love the unconventional premise yet plausible slice of Victorian England. A winner
This month's OSRBC read. How I cried and smiled through this. I am sucker for war stories but this one hits me in the feels. Some war stories ply on the melancholy but this book has the right balance of love, romance and unmistakable bittersweet need. The deception is necessary which doesn't make me hate any of the characters but the ending is just pure love for me
I have been hearing good reviews of LB's books and my only regret after reading this was I wished I picked it up earlier. It was a fun read set in a context that was cleverly disguised as The Bachelor in Regency times. However LB also gives some interesting historical knowledge to artifacts that are valued in modern times its roots in the novel.
For a romance reader for more than 20 years i can kick nyself for not coming across this gem of a book until it came to my attention recently. I blame the lack of a Kindle in the years past and poorly stocked bookshops i came across. This is Old school romance in its glory. It got me transported back to what is familiar in romance tropes. Author didn't try too hard with the issues of both H and h but just genuine kindness, respect, honour, loyalty
I ploughed through quite a bit of frivolous contemporary novels in a quest of a good one in my reading slump. College YA novels usually don't appeal to me because i am double that age but it is always easy to go back and remember that period as it defines the person you are now. Hero is believably a douchebag of highest order and heroine is one smart gal. The banter is off the the charts, dripping with tension and chemistry. Loved this one
I've been in a reading slump which gives me little patience to finish a long historical but this was highly recommended on ORBSC. The title is a misnomer. He is a NOT a devil. Only out of circumstance did he become a dilettante. Although landowner turned farmer is difficult to believe in those times because of strict social class structures, the romance is beautiful and sweet. I love romance after marriage #osrbc #romantsy
This is my third Zapata's book after Wall of Winnipeg & Wait for it. What can i say? Soccer is not called the beautiful game for nothing & I become a stark raving fan every 4 yrs for the World Cup. Kulti conjures every yummy aging soccer player I have in mind,Sal your budding female soccer star. However he fantasy of a renowned soccer player coaching a female player too big to bridge at times & i just focus on the romance. A beautiful one #osrbc
It started out ok but there wasn't enough complication or interesting plot device to keep it going. Good enough for a fuss-free weekend read
Looking forward to finish this in the next couple of days as my library loans are due soon.
I'm glad I started the series from the beginning when I decided to follow the post on OSRBC about marriage of conveniences. Tor is easily a hero I admire, dedicated, trustworthy, a natural leader respected by his clan. Christina, a young innocent yet selfless girl who decided to throw her fate at the sight of the charismatic man. #osrbc #romantsy
