Loved this book! A short read but jam packed with heart and soul. Although I grew up white in Minneapolis, and I am 70 years old, I could identify with some of the feelings that main character expressed.

I am in the middle of this novel and am disappointed. I am reading it for my book club, and was expecting more. The plot is non-existent. It is a series of vignettes about a voyage take by an 11 year old boy from (then) Ceylon to England circa 1950.. Ondaatje‘s writing is good but the novel is too disjointed for me.
I am about 1/3 through and am loving the book! I sit and read it with my iPad nearby so I can look up people, books, words that I don‘t understand, etc! The only negative is that I wish the book had come with colored plates of #45!
