The overall theme of this book is about the people that come and go in our life. The ending is somewhat like Lovecraft , and borders in the sci-fi genre. The speech Charles Jacobs gives in this book gave me chills. It is worth reading for that monologue alone. It also juxtaposes faith with atheism. Based on those elements I would recommend this book. If you read it , I hope you find it as entertaining as I did.
We peer into the life of Danny and the effects “the shining “ has had on him. He struggles with alcoholism and with past memories . The villains are interesting, but they are not justified in the end. That‘s one of the reasons I didn‘t like the ending. It has a lot of build up ,but it was not satisfying for me. I would recommend it if you liked The Shining, and want to see what happens next.
“Only poetry or madness could do justice to the noises heard.” Found this H.P. Love craft collection at the “for sale” section of the library. These old stories are still a good read. If anyone is looking for horror , I recommend Mr. Lovecraft.
The gunslinger is written in a more poetic style. The beginning strives to set the scene, and you can get lost reading it. As the story progresses though it goes back to that familiar Stephen King writing. It is a interesting beginning to the dynamic of the man in black and Roland. One of my favorite dark tower books. If you don‘t read the rest I would say to give this one a try.
Starting my journey into the Dark Tower universe. Unto book two, The Drawing of the Three. Very interesting so far, Roland is a funny character.
One of the better Joker stories of the current generation. This reminds me of the Animated Batman series. It shows how methodical the Joker really can be. It culminates with a epic battle that sums up a complex relationship. Which receives a sort of closure. If you have read Death of The Family (not to be confused with Death in The Family ) I would recommend this graphic novel.
Brady is one complex villain ,his relationship with his mom often borders on disturbing. Holy is another character that is well developed and like able. Hodges to me is probably the least relatable character. Overall it is one of King‘s better books and worth reading.
