Preparing to teach a class on gothic elements in fiction and cannot put this book down. I'd forgotten how great it is.

This showed up in our Little Free Library. I do not need a test to learn that our cat is NOT a genius.

I'm enjoying reading this book, but the main character has now "borrowed" mascara from two people and all I can do is worry about the pink eye she is certainly going to get. My eye is starting to itch on her behalf.

Beautifully written. An excellent multi-generational tale spanning from WWII to post-Katrina New Orleans.

Kaye Thanks for replying. ♥️ How did you like Mississippi ? I love Southern writers from that area. 7y
TQTyson @Kaye I lived in Mississippi from birth to age 21. I am now a writer and I write mostly about the south. There were many things I liked about Mississippi, but I always wanted to leave. Now that I live in Denver, I love to go back and visit. I love the literature of the south, as well. 7y

Kaye That‘s interesting. It sounds like several people that grow up there want to leave to see other places, but they still love coming back home. Have you had any published books yet ? Who are some of your favorite authors ? (edited) 7y
TQTyson @Kaye My first book came out in 2015 (Three Rivers). My second book comes out March 13 (The Past Is Never). And favorite authors would be a LONG list! Recently I'm loving Michael Farris Smith and Ron Rash. I'm also into Sarah Waters right now. Always love Margaret Atwood, Lauren Groff, Daniel Woodrell, Jennifer Egan. I could go on, but I won't! Who do you love to read? 7y
Kaye Lets see, for Southern authors. Long list, some that are no longer with us. Love Pat Conroy, Reynolds Price, Lee Smith, Michael Lee West, Ron Rash‘s One Foot in Eden was excellent. David Payne, Olive Ann Burns, Fannie Flagg‘s early books, Truman Capote ( favorite is Grass Harp ), Dorothy Allison, Mary Karr , Wendell Berry, Richard Marius. Gosh, I could go on and on. Have probably missed a truckload. Are your books on Amazon ? 7y
TQTyson @Kaye I love all those authors too, plus Flannery O'Connor, Eudora Welty, Elizabeth Spencer.... So many books, so little time! And, yes, my books are on Amazon. 7y
Kaye Thank you. I‘ll check them out. Great to find another Southern Lit lover. ♥️ 7y
TQTyson @Kaye Agreed! 7y
Kaye I‘ll pick up your Three Rivers book today. I put the new one on my wishlist. Not sure when I‘ll get to it, but will definitely read and review. Sounds like you‘ve gotten some great reviews already. Good for you ! I bet your family is so proud. 😁 7y

20th Anniversary edition of Tipping the Velvet. This photo doesn't do it justice.

monalyisha Whoa! What‘s the ISBN on this baby? 7y
TQTyson @monalyisha It's a UK release by Virago. ISBN: 9780349008486. I ordered from Book Depository. I'm teaching a class on the book this summer, so I wanted to have the latest edition. (Or some other plausible excuse to have a book shipped from London.) 7y
monalyisha Ha! It‘s pretty. 💞🌹🌷 7y
TQTyson @monalyisha I know, right?! 7y
