This was pretty good, especially for the #readathon! Drawings were beautiful, but I would have appreciated a bit more text. The characters are very shallowly drawn (no pun intended).
Not a huge fan of this one. The story reads like one long summary of someone's journal, but not in the fun, epistolary way. More in the "I can't remember all of the good bits but here's some stuff I guess" way. The time period also isn't real- book was praised for including social media, and yet it feels like 1950s white-washed America wherein the schools don't even take attendance electronically. Hard pass.
I'm definitely a late comer to this one. I really enjoyed reading this piece of history, but I would have liked it to be longer and hear more about her experience as a new American in the 70s.
Just picked up my books on hold at the library. I may have gone too far with this TBR pile...
