I've read the first book and half of the second in this series. Bought the full set at a garage sale for my classroom a while back and looking forward to getting back into it. #readJanuary #bookface
On book three in two days and can't stop! So glad I found this series, but I'm already apprehensive about how I'll feel when it's done!
I put this one off for awhile, telling myself that I needed to reread Illuminae to truly enjoy the sequel. Boy was I wrong! I loved Illuminae. I more than loved Gemina! Aboard a different station, this book follows a completely different set of characters (with cameos of some from the first book!) but follows the same duplicitous story line and of course Kaufman's unique writing style. If you haven't checked it out, don't make my mistake!
I woke up and got dressed in denim shorts that stopped just above the knee (crazy flattering) and a long T-shirt with the Tasmanian Devil on it, to let people know what was up.
“Why do you like being scared?" ... Well, I guess the short answer is, it‘s good practice.” “Practice? For what?” “For when you‘re really scared.” “Being scared is practice for being scared?” Henry‘s eyes closed. He was starting to drift off. “I don‘t get it.” “Think of it this way,” Reggie said. “If you don‘t learn how to be scared, you'll never learn how to be brave."
This book has been getting a lot of hype at our school as it was one of the most recent additions to our high school library. My female students said they were "so mad" while they read it, but couldn't put it down and loved it. With a review like this, of course I had to check it out. I definitely wasn't disappointed and I can't wait to read more by this author.
