I‘m starting this book now and I‘m really excited. I enjoy reading classics and other literature but sometimes I just want to read something more lighthearted. I hope I can relate to the main character because I have aspergers as well so maybe I will see some of myself in him or vice versa.
This is my second book into my Peal S. Buck adventure and I‘m really happy about it. Peony is a Chinese girl in a Jewish household in China. She is a bondmaid which is basically a nicer word for indentured servant or even slave because she was bought and is owned by her “family”. I really felt that I could understand her thoughts and feelings very well in this book. I would recommend.
This book was very interesting to me. I definitely intend to finish the trilogy and read more books by Pearl S. Buck as well.
I really loved this book. It made my heart ache in the worst and best ways. I was listening to the audiobook while traveling on a crowded greyhound bus trying not to cry because the book touched my heart so much. I fell in love with the characters most of all. I was truly inspired by how some of the characters were so kind and brave despite the hardest of hardships. I only hope I would be so courageous if I was in the same situations.
