pickWow! This book was an emotional rollercoaster and I don‘t think I‘ve ever cried more for a book. Having said that the writing is superb and the author did an excellent job at balancing the plot so that it never resulted too slow. I loved it!

She is not a recycled version of someone I once loved. She is a rhyming line in the poem of my history.
Everything has a heart. Even books, broken things, and I. Mine is locked away, frozen by the night in the snow. At least, that‘s what I‘d like to believe.
Pain and I have a reasonable agreement. Pain is jealous. As long as I don‘t feel anything else, it‘s content staying at bay.
The hit list and my succulent sit between us as a marker of distance. The warmth we share disobeys. I lean into it. I haven‘t said her name. I haven‘t touched her. She isn‘t real. I‘m just a skull in the cup of her palm, so what does it really matter if I fly too close to the sun?

Reasons are illusions. Their absence is common. If only it weren‘t their presence that keeps people sane.

Paper is my heart. Pens are my veins. They return words I stole, blood to paint a scene.
Humans have a knack for self-destruction. Only those of us who love broken things will ever know why.
I feel like a stone, he says, sinking into the bed.
I interlace our fingers and move along the joints so that he knows I'm still there. Our hands kiss.
You're a gem then, I say. Like the sun.
Needles are swords, he says. Pretending. His most glorious of games. Pills are gems.

Time, disease, and death steal everything. I said. Why don‘t we steal some of it back?
Let‘s steal the world, Sony said. Even with a low burning flame she was brave. Let‘s steal everything we can before we go.
“Remember that just because the stars fell doesn‘t mean they weren‘t worth wishing on”
Being sick teaches you that reasons are just poor attempts at justifying misfortune. They give you an illusion of why, but why is a loud question and death is quiet.

This books made me feel so many different emotions, sometimes at the same time. Even though this story concluded in only 24 hours, the bond created by the characters was so well written and developed, that it made it seem like their relationship had started years prior.
Walking down memory lane with Orion and Valentino was heartbreaking, and intense, and something I recommend to everyone.
