I had been following along with #lotrchapteraday without posting anything but I got behind. I just read the last three chapters of The Hobbit and finished it today. This picture is from when my parents went to New Zealand last winter and visited Hobbitton.

I have to admit I got House Baelish first and then changed some answers. Ugh. I do NOT want to belong to littlefinger!

Once I got to the part that overlaps Jane Eyre I wanted to refresh my memory by rereading part of the original and then I got absorbed. So I ended up reading them together - alternating chapters basically. It was fun to read it that way.

I was a little confused by this not being chronological - then she justified it when she talked about writing the book (the first time I realized the book was organized by advice). I just read this as a fun memoir not an advice book, but maybe I should pay attention to her advice! I'm not confident enough to hold my own in all the meetings she had. But I'm also not nearly as hardworking so I'll just stick to being entertained by her stories.

“I get that you despise convention, but you shouldn‘t let it get to the point that you‘re incapable of saying, ‘Fine, thanks,‘ just because it isn‘t an original, brilliant utterance. You can‘t be unconventional in every aspect of life. People will get the wrong idea.”

It may be 600ish pages but a lot more than 10 people are reading this!
