I love surprise book mail! Can't wait to read this one.
Can bad children happen to good mothers?
Domestic thriller about bullying. Totally enthralling. Five stars. Read it.
This is the first book I've reread in ages. I used to reread my favourites but there are soooo many books... I listened to the audiobook this time round and it was excellent. The narrator was a perfect fit. Now I'm ready for the sequel - Plan Cee.
"I think I'll give the Cage of Death a miss too," I said. Crocodiles were fascinating creatures, like living dinosaurs, but they could do their living over there somewhere, far away from me.
"I know I shouldn‘t introduce my own memoir with this amount of insecurity, but my personal life philosophy is always to assume the worst, then you‘re never disappointed. BAM! Highlight that previous sentence, baby!"
Gotta love a book that tells you which bits to quote ? and I love that bit. I have a book somewhere (probably still in a box) called Expect the worst, you won't be disappointed- the pessimist's guide to life.
Signing copies of my debut novel at my book launch party in Darwin.
Met Clare at her author talk at the Northern Territory Library on Wednesday night. Borrowed a copy to read.
The characters were well developed with distinct voices, enhanced by the narrator. The writing was emotionally engaging (yes, I got all teary).
I listened to the audiobook, which was fabulously narrated by Caroline Lee. She brought the characters to life, especially Vid who was such a fun character. I loved the interview between Liane and Caroline at the end - lots of insight into each of them.
“She was trapped. Trapped by his awful lust, which she could feel jabbing against her hip. She was the woman by the river. She was the one at the mercy of a man. She was the one about to get into trouble she hadn‘t asked for, trouble she didn‘t deserve.”
This was fabulous as an audiobook. The narrator captured the story perfectly.
I love deadlines. I love the whooshing noise they make as they go by.
