Pickpick

Because I have read The Lottery and loved it, I had an inkling of what I was getting myself into when I picked this up. But still... this was so bizarre and intriguing and heart-wrenching! Humanity is so inhumane at times that it hurts my heart. I look forward to reading other reviews, because this is the kind of book you have to discuss. I wanted to talk about it so badly that I explained the whole convoluted plot to my 6th grade students!

alovely26 The inhumanity of the villagers did bother me. Did you get the feeling that Mericat was mentally ill and her sister was her enabler? 8y

I really should be studying for my certification exam on Friday, but I can't bring myself to put this beauty down! It is so good! I hope she continues with the Cormoran Strike series.

I love Mr Darcy and Elizabeth Bennet in this book. But this is all I have read of Austen. What are your recommendations for the next Austen book to read???
I found this cute little Jane Austen coloring book full of quotes and pics and I am inspired to jump in and read these classics 📚🤓

The Summer reading book club for this starts today! I love the idea of journaling with each lesson and sharing ideas with others across the country. Is it really possible to have my dream classroom filled with dream students who do everything when and how I ask? AND to earn those dream test scores??

I would love to hear from someone who has read this. Will this keep the interest of 6th graders? I love that it is nonfiction, but that could also be its downfall with the kids. Although, a colleague told me she read that boys tend to prefer nonfiction reading, so maybe that will help...

Has anyone read this book? Or have a recommendation for a good book to read on a similar topic, Hurricane Katrina? I am looking to have my middle school students read and explore about the aftermath of this natural disaster and its effects on people just like them.

Got my advance reading copy! It only has one tale in it - The Splendid Canibals - but I love it!! I cannot wait until Loop Day 2016!!! #staypeculiar

Just got a Costco card, and I spend money on books!! I LOVE Patricia Cornwell and it's been so long since I have read a Kay Scarpetta mystery. But reading this feels like I am coming home.

Dmbulan I finally finished this today! I loved most of it, but there were parts that were so technical that I felt completely lost and disinterested. The ending was rather abrupt, then the Epilogue picks up a week later. It was the climax of the plot followed by an ending, but no real downward action 😕 9y

Hubby went to London and brought me back an authentic Paddington! I love this little bear with his marmalade sandwiches and his matter of fact attitude on his many adventures. I can't even pick a favorite of the series.
