Chasing Lincoln's Killer
Chasing Lincoln's Killer | James L. Swanson
NEW YORK TIMES bestselling author James Swanson delivers a riveting account of the chase for Abraham Lincoln's assassin. Based on rare archival material, obscure trial manuscripts, and interviews with relatives of the conspirators and the manhunters, CHASING LINCOLN'S KILLER is a fast-paced thriller about the pursuit and capture of John Wilkes Booth: a wild twelve-day chase through the streets of Washington, D.C., across the swamps of Maryland, and into the forests of Virginia.

This was well written and well done. Great insight and research of historical facts. I would recommend this book to anyone interested in US history.

Huh...I literally knew nothing of 99% (showing my Canadian ignorance) of this story. We never learnt about that in Canada. I just know of the reference to Booth and Lincoln in the theatre because of movies and TV. It was written with a narrative which made it come off almost fictional.

Such a great book about this moment in history! Gives great context, breaks down the timeline clearly, and uses suspenseful language to keep readers going. Very cool nonfiction for young readers.

LeahBergen I've read the "adult version" and it was so well done. It's great that they have a young readers edition. 8y

I would love to hear from someone who has read this. Will this keep the interest of 6th graders? I love that it is nonfiction, but that could also be its downfall with the kids. Although, a colleague told me she read that boys tend to prefer nonfiction reading, so maybe that will help...
