I read this by mistake (my kid downloaded it for his college course). So glad I did-it is brilliantly written and the stories are skillfully drawn and compassionate. Read it!

I am so fed up with lazy misogyny, especially from women. I know this will be a movie because Hollywood loves nothing more than evil heroines. I wish this author-who is a skillful writer-had turned their gifts to something more interesting and original.
Mostly gripping read. Wish Harper liked her female characters more—I always find women‘s misogyny more nasty than men‘s.
Not for the faint of heart. For the rest of us, a harrowing story about mental illness and the alienated labor of caring for other people‘s children. Very well written even if it is hard to really like any of the characters.
Okay. I‘m 2 pp. and if I didn‘t have to teach a 9 am class I think I could read this all night.
A rich and compelling novel. I can only imagine how hard it was to wrap it up. I loved Klara. Wish there‘d been more of her.
A readerly friend gave this to me right before I drove across the country for a new job. I loved the main character and her janky way of moving through the world. Got a little lost toward end but def a great story.
