The title of the book was what persuaded me to read it.It is about a blind French girl and a German orphan boy and how they are destined to run into each other. Quite naturally i had expected the book to be more about them together but it turned out to be more about the war and their survival individually through the war. They do meet but for a very brief moment and then they part never to meet again and that is something I didn't really like.
