Preparing for a challenging reading experience with this novelisation of the life of Sara Baartman, the Khoikhoi woman who was exhibited as a freak show attraction in C19th Europe. Baartman eventually became a point of scientific interest for Georges Cuvier, who sought to study her as an example of the "missing link" in human evolution. Her mistreatment continued even after death, when a cast of her body went on display alongside her skeleton.
