Parvana, the protagonist, is burdened with the duty of becoming the breadwinner of the family after her father was taken by the soldiers. The family go through a dark time before Parvana comes across Mrs Weera her gym teacher from before the war.
Alaina.Doherty After Mrs Weera gets everyone back on their feet she comes up with a clever idea to make Parvana appear like a boy. She is to change her appearance, name, clothes, and personality to blend in as a boy because women and girls are not to be seen. Parvana was brave and courageous while her family is in need. During this book Parvana meets people from her past life before being forced out of school; including her old friend, Shauzia. 2w

She is faced with challenges but Shauzia and Parvana‘s ideas to make money work very well and they can stay on their feet. Alaina.Doherty Parvana faces what the Taliban do to people, and is afraid of her life to come. This first person novel is truly fantastic and I wouldn‘t judge the cover on this one. 2w
