Parvana, the protagonist, is burdened with the duty of becoming the breadwinner of the family after her father was taken by the soldiers. The family go through a dark time before Parvana comes across Mrs Weera her gym teacher from before the war.
pickI would incorporate this book into my classroom to talk about adversities that other people endure around the world. This book would be a great conversation starter for many moral mini lessons.
