This was a very interesting read, if a tad repetitive—forgivable in the name of hammering a point home, I guess? The author‘s claims that insulin/sugars are the key to controlling body weight aren‘t entirely new, but he does go further and more in depth than other things I‘ve read. Mostly it‘s common sense, although intermittent fasting is a new thought for me—not sure I could do it, but I might try and see how it goes. A pick? I guess?

I recently discovered Gina‘s books and website—I was enjoying so much that I bought 3 of the books! I love the fact that they are healthy and contain nutritional info. This panna cotta was supposed to use raspberry but we wanted to try passion fruit. Delicious!

Deblovestoread I follow her on Instagram but haven‘t read her book yet. I really like her science based approach but got a little turned off when she started selling her “anti-spike” product. 4mo
jenniferw88 @Deblovestoread I'm diabetic, and I'm going to start some of the hacks, as I found them fascinating. There were also a couple of pudding recipes that I wanted to try—especially the Eton Mess with Cacao Nibs one, as I thought meringues would be a no-no for me. She wears a CGM, and I've just started wearing one myself, so I'm learning what works for me, and it's provided some ideas. 4mo

An interesting look into a life, as I find most autobiography's to be. When you watched a person on TV your whole life and had your bedroom walls plastered with pictures of their husband it's easy to forget they are simply people.

DieAReader 🥳Fantastic! I l am obsessed❤️‍🔥with biographies & autobiographies, especially as audiobooks read by the author🤓🎧📚 There‘s just something so fascinating to me about listening to someone tell me their story🦸‍♀️🦸🏻‍♂️ about how they got to be where they are now. What shaped them into the human beings that they are. I‘ve read a few of Valerie‘s books over the years but somehow missed this one somehow🤦🏻‍♀️ Stacked📚 5mo
TheBookgeekFrau @DieAReader This is her first book. I want to read her others. She was my early-teen self's idol🤩 I love to hear about others journey through life, I learn so much! 5mo

#Mtcookbook 🧗‍♀️ Another new one this week!

Gumbo on the menu tonight. I love this series for its simplicity and overall tastiness.

Tamra This was a hit and will make it again. Added Old Bay Seasoning and hot sauce to serve. 😚 10mo
mabell Ooo old bay sounds like great addition! 10mo

janeycanuck Yum! Sounds so tasty! 10mo
Tamra @janeycanuck it was very good! 10mo
Tamra @tpixie give it a try! 10mo
Tamra @mabell yes, I made a note to add it again. 10mo
tpixie @Tamra I showed the recipe to my husband.. He thinks we should give it a try! Do you know how much Old Bay you put in? 😄 (edited) 10mo
Tamra @tpixie my daughter doesn‘t like very spicy food, so I only put in a teaspoon. But the rest of us added hot sauce to our bowls. So I would say it depends on how spicy you want it. 😊 I also made other closely related substitutions based on what we had, including a half can of fire roasted tomatoes. 10mo
tpixie @Tamra ok thanks! Fired roasted tomatoes- my mom loved those! Thanks for the memory!! 10mo
Tamra @tpixie enjoy! 10mo
tpixie @Tamra 😋 10mo
intothehallofbooks This sounds wonderful! I‘ve never made gumbo before. Also I‘ve seen the Skinnytaste cookbooks around, but I‘ve never peeked into them. I should, though! 10mo
Tamra @intothehallofbooks I really like them! Maybe check a couple out from the library to see if they work for you. 😄 10mo
TheBookHippie I love gumbo! 10mo

I'm currently really struggling to read, but I found listening to this very interesting book did help somewhat to get me out of my slump.

This was really so informative and fascinating. I didn't realise how easy our eating habits are influenced by our environment. I truly believed myself above this, but was so shocked at how many things I thought was my choice only to realise that it was really the things around me.

Do you have a genre that is a guilty pleasure? Reading a book about a woman that goes on a fitness journey to lose weight is totally mine! To be honest sometimes (more often than not) they are awful and eye rolling. Sometimes they are inspiring. I get in a bored funk about exercise, and I love the parts in the books where they find their self confidence through working out. They spark my drive to continue getting my own workout in each day.
⭐⭐⭐

AileenRR I haven‘t anything like this and I‘m interested. Please recommend a favorite? 1y
ItsAnotherJen @AileenRR hmmm..maybe try Love, Lies, and Weight Loss by Jax Burrows and see what you think! 1y
AileenRR Thanks! I‘ll take a look at that one 😊 1y

A lot of interesting & useful info but, by trying to emphasize that this is not a diet book, it focuses almost solely on people on eating disorders. Not bad but, not what I was looking for.
