I am ready! I might read the 1990s edition as I've cracked the spine and it's already well read

I want to read the Rick Riordan books. I might split it up because it is long. Read other books in-between rather than trying to read it all at once

repost for @PuddleJumper:

Royal Assassin is the second book in the Farseer Trilogy #RealmofElderlings

How is everyone feeling about the series so far?

I‘ve got about 50 pages left of Assassin‘s Apprentice will hopefully get it finished this week. I‘m excited and a little intimidated by the second book. Been an age since I‘ve read anything that long and I think it‘s going to hurt but also fuck yeah my favourite character!

Enchanted_Bibliophile Exited! 🤩 I still have 90 pages left of Assassin's Apprentice, but I'll definitely finish it this week. Then I have to go on a hunt for a physical copy of Royal Assassin. I have the ebook, but I'd like to have a book to do annotations in. 1w

daena I also have about 50 or so pages left. This is my second read and I love it even more this time around. Looking forward to starting the next book! (edited) 1w
kelli7990 I like what I‘ve read from the first book so far but I haven‘t made any more progress in it and I haven‘t finished it yet. Maybe I‘ll finish next month. 1w
Luke-XVX I felt like Fitz grew up far too quickly, I‘d have loved a couple of hundred more pages haha 6d

I‘m reading this book for the #realmofelderlings readalong and it‘s good so far. I‘m going to come back to this book but I want to take a break from this book for a while and read a bad boy sports romance series that I have chosen on my Kindle to finish this month. I enjoyed the first book in the series but I never continued with the series.

I just started this book. I only read the first chapter and it was interesting. I don‘t feel invested in this story yet but I‘ll read at my own pace and keep going. My plan is to read some of this book while I‘m reading other books. It‘s been a long time since I‘ve read a fantasy series. My first fantasy series was A Song Of Ice And Fire and my second fantasy series was Lord Of The Rings.

I‘m going to be participating in the #realmofelderlings readalong hosted by PuddleJumper. I just finished a book club book I was reading and now, I‘m ready to start this book next. I won‘t finish it this month but I want to at least start it. This kinda sounds like A Song Of Ice And Fire because ASOIAF has a bastard named Jon Snow and this series has a bastard named Fitz and both series have kingdoms and knights and things like that.

kelli7990 I‘ve read A Song Of Ice And Fire and I really liked it so it pissed me off when it ended on a cliffhanger and I‘ve accepted that it might not get finished but I‘m curious to see if I‘ll like this series better than that one. This is my first time reading the series so I‘ll just have to see what I think. I‘ve heard good things about it. (edited) 4w

Okay I liked the first book in this series, this one I really didn‘t, with all that happened to the main character it was a little over the top. I tried, I really tried to get to “like” but I just couldn‘t. I know this is a popular series and I‘m trying to figure out why. the abuse is over the top and there should be some type of goal…if he can‘t get to where he needs to go. I think my biggest issue is, if he‘s an assassin how is he always caught?

CoverToCoverGirl All valid questions. I‘m not a fantasy reader at all but these came highly recommended to me. I loved them and have read the first three books. Fitz‘s struggle is very real, ugly and harsh. To me it had a very medieval atmosphere, and the Wit and the Skill were just plausible enough for me buy into the storyline and I especially loved Nighteyes. As readers we can‘t like everything, even if it is a popular series. 2mo
Ddzmini @CoverToCoverGirl yes I agree and I have to say there have been time were I go back and reread a book and get a whole different feel so I‘m not getting rid of the books it‘s just I‘ll have to reread them in the future and see if I change my mind on it 2mo

Pickpick

I didn‘t love Royal Assassin quite as much as I enjoyed Assassin‘s Apprentice. I think it suffered from a little bit of second book syndrome. And Fitz got on my nerves. But I still enjoyed the atmosphere and setting. Fitz is still young here so there‘s room for development. I‘m still going to continue the series but I‘m going to take a break to start book three with a fresh perspective.
