It‘s raining this afternoon so I‘m going through my fruit cellar and changing the brown paper on the shelves ( and purging some expired canned goods ) if I‘ve said it once, I‘ve said it 100 times #thankgoodforaudiobooks

dabbe Me in Phoenix: a fruit cellar? 🤔 WTF is that? Or even a cellar! 🤣🤣🤣 When I was a kid and visited Michigan for the first time, all I would ask any person whose house we went to: “Do you have a cellar?“ Then I'd disappear for the rest of the visit. 🤣🤣🤣 9mo

mcctrish @dabbe 🤣🤣🤣 a fruit cellar or cold room is a separate room in the basement that isn‘t insulated and should be on the north side of the house ( gets less sun) so stays cold year round -ish, kind of walk in closet sized. It‘s under our front porch but in another house it was under our garage and much bigger ( I always think of a cellar as unfinished and very rustic - not insulated and basements as insulated🤷🏻♀️) 9mo
mcctrish @Tamra go you!!! I need to paint ( strip wallpaper first) our spare bedroom and the basement workout/rec room but I‘m stalling out on which to start first ( upstairs probably faster, basement needed more - giant pain) 9mo

mcctrish @Tamra when we moved into this house 24 years ago every wall was covered with wallpaper and every hardwood floor was carpeted. It‘s been a long haul 9mo

mcctrish @dabbe it‘s funny what one thinks of wild in houses. I‘m like how does the house stay put without the basement to anchor it? tornado alley I‘m talking to you 🤣🤣 9mo
dabbe @mcctrish I know! We do have attics, though. Not nearly as fun as a basement. Maybe ours stay put because we don't have tornadoes--just an inferno. 🤣🤣🤣 9mo
mcctrish @dabbe basements so help beat the heat. I want to get stairs/built in ladder so I can get to my attic easier. Our old house had pull down stairs and I loved it 9mo
