⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A story of knowing what you don‘t want, rather than what you do. Three generations of tough, somewhat shunned, women, all unique in their strengths. Dorothy, aka Donkey, steals the show. I loved the symbolism of the rattler. An ouroboros; the circle of life. I picked this up after hearing Campbell speak at Southern Festival of Books. She‘s so sharp and funny! Meeting her was an absolute pleasure. Will def read more from her!

Campbell is a new-to-me author, and hearing her speak was such a treat, I had to buy her newest and meet her. She‘s a whole vibe and I love it!

LeahBergen Nice! 🫏 2w
britt_brooke @LeahBergen Her donkey stamp is the best! She was a real trip to hear speak. So funny and smart, too. A whole vibe! Have you read any of her books? I‘m in the middle of this one now. 2w
LeahBergen I haven‘t but I‘ve eyed this one 2w
britt_brooke @LeahBergen Looks good! I‘m impressed with her writing. Definitely planning to read more of her! 2w

Well written, but rather strange story of a swamp-living family and a search for resolution after grief. Kind of blunt and somewhat off-putting in a poetic way.
Could be a little shorter too. It took me a while to read.

Pic of a Michigan swamp on a recent #audiowalk as I listened to this deeply satisfying novel. Healer Herminie Zook, her precocious granddaughter, questionable fathers, and complicated independent women connect with the land and each other in the Great Missasauga Swamp. Loved it. Plenty of #chilling moments. #WickedWhispers #MittenLitten @Eggs @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks

JamieArc The author‘s husband was recently on Jeopardy. It was pretty cool to see! 1mo
Eggs Gorgeous pic and pretty photo👏🏻👏🏻 1mo
lynneamch @JamieArc Hi Jamie. I think that was a different Bonnie. Bonne Gamus. But, yes, it was cool to watch. Hope they invite him back for invitational competition. 1mo
JamieArc @lynneamch You‘re totally right 🤦🏻‍♀️. I remember that now. 1mo

#wondrouswednesday

1. The tagged is a children‘s book I read when I was a child.

2. I‘m supposed to go to Guam for work. Since I‘ll be there the whole month of July, it will be a kind of vacation. Other than that, I don‘t take vacation in the summer.

3. Movement - I started the Habit Nest‘s stretching daily journal & I am feeling better

Airykah13 I have one of the Habit Nest‘s strength programs. I‘ll have to check out their stretching program 5mo
wanderinglynn @Airykah13 I‘ve done 7 days so far & I like it. I expect to see some good improvements by the end of the program. 5mo
Eggs Enjoy Guam 🇬🇺 👌🏼👏🏻 5mo
wanderinglynn @Eggs thanks! 5mo

Bailedbailed

I gave it a good shot but just didn‘t really care about the characters and no mystery to keep me hanging on. Anyone else?

My thoughts here were all over the place. I wasn‘t keenly interested in the characters until Donkey (sweet reason for her name) took center stage at chapter 3. I thought the story might veer to a right-wing heavy-handed story on abortion which I wasn‘t interested in. It didn‘t; however, the concern impacted my experience. I got all the way to the end before realizing I really liked this and all its complicated relationships.
