#FeelinTheLove Day 3: There are #LoveIsBlind elements here between Daniel and Susannah as I find the latter insufferable at 200 pages in. I finished two other titles for the #ToB25 while reading this and I haven‘t even reached a third of the book - does it get better and is it worth slogging through? The characterization is on point but not in love yet with any of the characters.

LeslieO I love everything about this picture! 4d
Megabooks I enjoyed this book, but I think it was how much I love the narrator of the audiobook that really pushed me through parts I enjoyed less. Love the picture!! 4d
squirrelbrain I enjoyed this more then I expected but it did feel very long so if you‘re not enjoying it at one third through…. 🤔 4d

Three teens return from the dead and are asked to fulfill a series of magical tasks by their music teacher in this slow burning fantasy. I really loved the familial relationships between Daniel and Carousel, Susannah and Laura and Ruth, Mo and Maryanne.

Mehso-so

Shockingly I didn‘t hate this! I think my expectations were super low, so any enjoyment I had was a bonus. Full of strange goings-on…magical creatures and such but in our world. Heavily focused on the relationships of the 3 teenage protagonists who have died but are brought back to life by some otherworldly beings. It‘s too long but the audiobook made it manageable. And it‘s my final read for #ToB25!

sarahbarnes Agreed - it was too long for me, too. I love her short stories and this was just a so-so for me. But it was very creative, which is what I like about her. 2w
Suet624 Just got this from the library and I'm not sure whether I want to read it now! I have so many other library books to read and this book seems to be getting a tepid response. 2w
squirrelbrain Great review - I didn‘t expect much either but I think I liked it better than you. It definitely could have done with being half the length. 2w

squirrelbrain I felt the same @Suet624 - I borrowed it from the library and had seen all the meh reviews but started it and liked it enough to keep going to the end. 2w
Suet624 @squirrelbrain that‘s good to know. Thanks! 2w
GatheringBooks Oh wow, this is your last book for #ToB25!!! Good for you. I have miles to go before I sleep. 😭😅😭 1w
Megabooks I thought January LaVoy did a great job with the narration! 13m

I wasn‘t going to read this, but then it made the #ToB shortlist. I still wasn‘t sure but thought if I borrowed it from the library, I could bail.

I ended up really liking it and it didn‘t feel (quite) as long as it looked.

Thanks #ToB - you made me read and enjoy a fantasy book about teenagers, with ghosts, magic and weird creatures, where I didn‘t always understand what the heck was happening!

Henry liked it too! 🤪

LeahBergen Hello, Henry! 😘 3w
ChaoticMissAdventures Oh this is good to hear! I am not hearing many enjoy it, I might give it a shot 3w
Hooked_on_books This is my last one left from the shortlist. I hadn‘t planned to read it initially but put the audio on hold in case I changed my mind. I don‘t have it yet, but several of you all now liking it, I feel a little more hopeful about it. And I love that Henry is a goof! 😆 3w

youneverarrived I love when a book surprises you and you end up liking it more than you thought! 3w
BarbaraBB Wow! Kudos for giving it a chance and continue reading it! 3w

squirrelbrain Henry says snoof! @LeahBergen 🐾 3w
squirrelbrain @ChaoticMissAdventures @Hooked_on_books @youneverarrived @barbarabb - the more recent reviews on GR are awful and it‘s not my thing at all but I was pleasantly surprised. (edited) 3w
sarahbarnes I‘m glad you liked it! I liked it more than I expected, too, but it did often feel long to me. Cute pic!! 😍 3w
ChaoticMissAdventures @squirrelbrain often times when reviews are overly terrible I read the book and think well this is fine, IDK what these people are talking about. They can really skew (either way) how I feel about a book which isn't always good but sometimes my expectations get so low I can say really pleasant things about a book! 3w
squirrelbrain I probably did skim it a bit @sarahbarnes as I often do! 🤪 3w
squirrelbrain In this case @ChaoticMissAdventures reviewers on GR either love it or hate it. But the last few reviews on here were good and I trust Littens more than GR readers so I gave it a go! 3w
Megabooks Sweet Henry boy!! This was this year‘s Ozeki for me. I was surprised to enjoy it as much as I did. 12m

I went back and forth between the ebook and January LaVoy's awesome narration with this one. Overall, it's a soft pick for me. I like some of the things Link does with these characters, but the novel just feels really long. My favorite thing about this novel was listening to the audiobook for how January LaVoy transitions from teen voices to kid voices to adult voices and trying to figure out what she's doing in her body to create each.

BarbaraBB Another pick for this one. Glad to know it‘s better than I expected on earlier reviews! 3w
Megabooks The plot was a bit over complicated, but I still enjoyed it, too. January was awesome! 11m

#25Alive! Day 15: I am sure there must be #LastingLove somewhere here with this kind of title. Starting this #ToB25 title today because man it is a chunkster!

This was a huge surprise hit of the #tob25 shortlist, but it is loooong! Finding out January LaVoy was the narrator pushed me to listen to 23.5 hours of audio, and I don‘t regret it.

It‘s a complicated plot involving three teens who are brought back from death through a key they‘ve found. They find themselves tugged between forces who need the key for themselves. Loved the characters and not YA at all.

BarbaraBB That is super encouraging! 1mo
squirrelbrain I‘m reading this in print but I‘m not very far in yet. I‘m undecided whether to go audio as well, but I have a few other #tob longlisters lined up on audio as well. 🤷‍♀️ 1mo
Hooked_on_books Interesting! I have the audio on hold and it‘ll be a while before I get it, but this is encouraging. I‘m totally ready to bail on it, but hopefully I‘ll end up liking it, too. 1mo
Megabooks @Hooked_on_books January just did such a fantastic job with the narration! I was really engaged! 1mo
