Aresh, gah, Seiichirou is a grown man, you can't do this. I really wish this was seen as a bit more problematic by the story.

I'm still really curious how things are going to turn out, and I'm ordering the light novels, but I'm gonna have to be clear in my full-length reviews that there is definitely ick -- questionable consent (sex to save Seiichirou's life) and Aresh constraining Seiichirou's freedom for his own good.

shanaqui I enjoy them a lot, but I can't give it a pick at this point without feeling like I'm wholeheartedly endorsing something that's actually quite ick.

The sex is kind of dubious on both sides (Aresh has some feeling that he's the only one who can save Seiichirou, both times they actually have penetrative sex), but then becomes a little coerced... along with just about every other interaction they have. 1/2

shanaqui It may be that we're supposed to see that Seiichirou actually likes it, and that he could put a stop to it if he really wanted to (in fact I'm certain he could given his other allies), but that really doesn't come through enough explicitly on-page. 2/2 1w

Never sure if I'm finding the manga or light novel here on Litsy, there don't seem to be separate entries for all of them even if I search further. So this is for the manga!

The plot thickens in this volume. Sometimes it seems to be just about Aresh and Seiichirou, but I think Aresh is living in a romance novel and Seiichirou in an SF/F novel, in terms of how they view the relative importance of events.

Aresh still uncomfortably controlling. 😕

Ah yes, Aresh, such frivolity, so convincing.

I'm enjoying the story, but I do wish Aresh would communicate a bit more with Seiichirou. It's not like they don't talk at all, but I think Aresh should say “I like you“ and “I want to spend time with you“... and maybe be a BIT less controlling, even if it is to save his life.

Clare-Dragonfly This is so menacing 😅 1w
shanaqui @Clare-Dragonfly He's super cross with Seiichirou at the time. 😆 Seiichirou is trying to work himself to death and isn't being careful of his health, and Aresh is trying to help him. Plus he has a heck of a case of resting bitch face in most panels. 😉 1w

GOD, this volume made me so angry!! v2 focused on Conflict and here it was homophobia. And the author does such a good job at carrying my son through these turbulent times T-T!! I'm so happy to see the friendships he's forged in v1 having his back, his own self-discovery, and yes, even some of the DESERVED violence. AND THAT CLIFFHANGER!! This author has done it again 👏👏 this author interweaves all the stories so well :) I'm excited for v3!!

I‘m still not sure what I think about this series, but I have it all so I‘m dedicated. The last few volumes are pushing it to a 2.5/3 star rating. A twist has made things interesting (because they weren‘t moving otherwise) but there‘s still an uncomfortable age gap, child abuse, and an unexplained world. 🤷‍♀️ I feel like I‘m missing something, especially with all the rave reviews.

Buying this entire series, I had no idea what it was about. Having finished volume 1 & 2, I still have no idea what it is about. There‘s some supernatural essence going on with characters taking on roles of fighter and sacrifices; they have ‘other names‘ (hence Loveless); and there is an age-gap that you really need to be okay with (although the author says this is not a yaoi). Not the strongest of starts.

I think if you have to wait for each volume, you can get frustrated with the storyline, but back to back, you see the simplicity in Nakamura‘s storytelling mesh wonderfully with the detail in their art. Nakamura‘s not going to tell you something is happening, they‘re going to show you with tearful eyes, clenched hands (watch the hands 🥵) and hostile glares.

I live for Nakamura‘s art. Long, lanky and fluid, people are almost animalistic/reptilian in some way. It is hard to explain but it‘s gorgeous. A simple beginning to a story: two boys meet and enter into a friendship, almost relationship. They‘re feeling each other out, and it‘s sweet and heartwarming.

S&K had a shaky start, but this series is really too adorable for words. I‘m loving where it‘s at, and that we can see these two navigate their relationship and their immensely different approaches to it (oh Sasaki is deliciously … grabby 😉).

My only complaint is that they are so short. This volume is only 3 chapters, and then filled with ‘extra, side stories‘. And while I love them, I‘d be happier with thicker volumes.
