Help? Those of you who work with college students and new hires, who work in career development, and those who love learning… I have been charged with creating and delivering a 15 min program for college students on how to enhance “career-ready skills” — SOFT SKILLS! I can do this, I am confident in my ability to facilitate such, but need to pick a topic FAST. Suggestions? 🧐😬😃

Nutmegnc I‘m not sure of specifics but I LOVE George Couros and his book the Innovators Mindset is also great. This touches on those 21st century skills that students need in the coming job market. I bet you could pick a topic from there. You might also bring in the ISTE standards for students. 2mo
BkClubCare @Nutmegnc TY, I have to work it all up tomorrow. Thank you 😊 2mo
wanderinglynn Adam Grant has some fantastic topics, like knowing what you don‘t know. 2mo

Bookwormjillk Big topic in my office right now. I agree with @wanderinglynn that Adam Grant is a good place to start. 2mo
bthegood college students - big things they need work on : eye contact, engaged and active listening, hand shakes - 🙂 2mo
BkClubCare @Bookwormjillk @wanderinglynn - Thank you! That first story in Think Again, about the fire fighters, has stayed with me. 🌟 2mo
BkClubCare @bthegood - a presentation on how to be present without being scolding could be a challenge 😂 Active Listening activities might be a good way to go. 🙏 (edited) 2mo

The book was okay. If anything I found it inspirational and motivating. It describes great leaders and it is a good book to gain insight on how to become a good one. It pushes you and gives you some tips on how to become disciplined but it dragged in a many areas and there weren‘t explicit strategies.

This was exactly what I needed. I'm a night owl who works 12:30pm-9:30pm the majority of the year. But I'm trying to change my ways and become more of a morning person to take advantage of those extra hours in the a.m. This book contains several interviews with different successful people about their routines. The gist is, what works for some doesn't work for all, but find a routine that works for you and be consistent. Very inspiring 🎧🧩

A book that almost everyone should read at least once, but wouldn‘t hurt to read several. It has numerous strategies to build better habits and break bad ones. I hope to make the best out of them.

Straightforward advice on how to develop good habits and break bad ones. This complements other books I have read- including just about anything by Brene Brown and Unwinding Anxiety. I‘m not sure it adds anything to the topic, u less of course you just starting to think about this- then it‘s a very good introduction.
