Can somebody help me pretty please? I‘ve been keeping track of my reading time every day for #HauntedShelf but I know there‘s a bunch of readathons going on and want to claim points for that. Is there a master list of all the readathons going on? Any help would be greatly appreciated! 🤗

ShananigansReads There was one circulating before the start of October. I‘m not sure if it‘s being updated but I‘ll try to find the Google link for you. 1mo
JenlovesJT47 @ShananigansReads thank you so much! 🤗 1mo
robinb Do you follow @LitsyEvents? They do a great job of keeping up with what‘s going on. 😊 1mo
JenlovesJT47 @robinb I do, thank you! 🤗 1mo

There are a few different covers so I hope I‘ve got the right book here. I actually really enjoyed this. It‘s very much a motivational book, but I did bookmark a lot of points where I wanted to go back and write things down. I went through a phase of achievement type books and this hit the spot. I admire bear grylls a lot, the way he lives and his character, so yeah… it was for me, might not be for you, worth a try?! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Our thoughts create our world and our words indicate our thoughts. Complaining about an illness will neither shorten its duration nor lessen its severity. It is vital that we control our minds in order to re-create our lives. Watch your thoughts, for they become words.

In this book Manson argues that once we stop trying to be “happy“ all the time, and instead become extremely familiar with what deeply pains us, we will discover what truly makes us happy.
I appreciated Manson's brutal honesty and his tell-it-like-it-is attitude really spoke to me. He advocates the importance of embracing our true selves in a world obsessed with perfection.

I decided I better get my act together and read this book before I retire in a few months! I adore Sharon Salzberg and appreciate her wisdom. In this book, she teaches readers how to incorporate meditation into their work life to better cope with stressful meetings, pressing deadlines, and difficult people. ☮️

KathyWheeler I probably could have used something like this earlier in my career. 😊 A few months before I retired though, I just refused to stress about anything. I did my job, but didn‘t allow people to pressure me. 5mo
NatalieR @KathyWheeler I‘m with you! 😀 Fortunately, I‘m able to phase myself out by reducing the days I work and my workload. It‘s amazing and perfect for my mental health. 🧘🏻‍♀️ 5mo
KathyWheeler @NatalieR I had just gone back to the building after working from home during COVID, then my husband got really sick so I went back to work from home, then I decided to retire and never really went back to the building unless I had to. So I‘d sort of phased myself out in terms of a physical presence. It was great for my mental health. 5mo

NatalieR @KathyWheeler I‘m sorry your husband got sick. I‘m glad you had a peaceful end to your career. I hope you‘re enjoying retirement. 🩷 5mo
KathyWheeler @NatalieR It was so scary when he was sick; it took him more than a year to fully recover, but he‘s better now. I am enjoying retirement. ❤️ 5mo
peaKnit I‘m retiring in 6 months and I am feeling myself disengage. I like the idea of not allowing myself to be pressured. I am going to try that. Thanks! 5mo
NatalieR @KathyWheeler I‘m so happy your husband has recovered and you‘re enjoying retirement! ❤️ 5mo
NatalieR @peaKnit Congratulations! I am feeling disengaged too. Some of it is intentional. I have to learn to separate myself. It‘s going to happen soon anyway. 😅 I hope the tip works for you! 🤞 5mo

Help? Those of you who work with college students and new hires, who work in career development, and those who love learning… I have been charged with creating and delivering a 15 min program for college students on how to enhance “career-ready skills” — SOFT SKILLS! I can do this, I am confident in my ability to facilitate such, but need to pick a topic FAST. Suggestions? 🧐😬😃

Nutmegnc I‘m not sure of specifics but I LOVE George Couros and his book the Innovators Mindset is also great. This touches on those 21st century skills that students need in the coming job market. I bet you could pick a topic from there. You might also bring in the ISTE standards for students. 8mo
BkClubCare @Nutmegnc TY, I have to work it all up tomorrow. Thank you 😊 8mo
wanderinglynn Adam Grant has some fantastic topics, like knowing what you don‘t know. 8mo

Bookwormjillk Big topic in my office right now. I agree with @wanderinglynn that Adam Grant is a good place to start. 8mo
bthegood college students - big things they need work on : eye contact, engaged and active listening, hand shakes - 🙂 8mo
BkClubCare @Bookwormjillk @wanderinglynn - Thank you! That first story in Think Again, about the fire fighters, has stayed with me. 🌟 8mo
BkClubCare @bthegood - a presentation on how to be present without being scolding could be a challenge 😂 Active Listening activities might be a good way to go. 🙏 (edited) 8mo

Nothing wrong with these lessons, but for me they felt kind of intuitive. There was something old fashioned and even comforting about the advice that I did enjoy. It reminded me of the classes my father took for his company in the 80‘s. Dad is highly effective, so maybe it worked. 🤷🏻‍♀️
