Guys. I know we're excited for the new Spider-man. I know that there's a lot of POC representation which is WONDERFUL however - they ripped off a bunch of Miles Morales's storylines and handed them to Peter Parker. Basically Hollywood said that they liked Miles but not enough to make a POC star in Spider-Man. I'm so saddened by all of this. This could have been such a great opportunity for Marvel! #readdiversecomics
RanaElizabeth I really think the conversation was like, "we already have Black Panther planned, isn't that enough?" and all the heads in the room nodded and goodbye Miles Morales. 8y
maximoffs @RanaElizabeth it's so FRUSTRATING. "Isn't it enough they get one movie" IM SO MADDDDD YOU DONT EVEN KNOW UGHHHHH 8y
RanaElizabeth Tokenism is alive and strong in the MCU. 8y

maximoffs @RanaElizabeth the thing that I LIKED originally about the cast is it didn't seem token. Like there were so many POC that it was more actual diversity rather than tolerance and that the BP cast was all black (as it should be) but you're so right and I'm so done 8y
RanaElizabeth I've always been pissy about the MCU and the male-only stars of the films. Like America wouldn't watch the hell out of a Black Widow movie. Maybe after Wonder Woman does well, we'll see more. 8y
maximoffs @RanaElizabeth we are getting a Captain Marvel film which I hope they actually invest into. Would love to see them do a Kamala Khan movie but a female and a POC just doesn't seem in the cards 8y
kammartinez I was disappointed that we're getting Peter Parker (AGAIN?!) for Spidey and not Miles. I mean seriously, how many times can we kill Uncle Ben? On a more serious note, the fact that they ripped off Miles for the new Spidey movie is just proof-positive of the lengths that Hollywood will go to to keep movies as white as possible :|. 8y
