The Crossover | Kwame Alexander

Mehso-so

Although I believe this would make a great read for younger teens, especially black boys, this was not for me. Laced with poetry throughout it was a bit jumpy to follow in audiobook format. I‘m sure print is the ideal medium for this. Nice for reluctant readers and filled with discussion worthy topics: sports, health, family/sibling relationships and more.

Butterfinger I adore Kwame Alexander. I follow him on Facebook and he just seems so friendly and relatable. I want to meet him so badly. I agree. I think the text would be more easy to get. 6y
Addison_Reads My nephew loves this book, so yes, if you have a reluctant reader try this one. He tried the audio, but he said he liked reading it better. 6y
Tamra The printed format is good! 6y

⭐️⭐️⭐️ I enjoy playing this quick listen (6hr 39mins). 16 year old, Jordanian-American, Tal, unexpectedly finds her rock star father on her doorstep. She grew up believing he was dead. This is the story of how she learns the truth about her parents, their relationship and how she navigates forging a relationship with him. Lots of musical references that were lost on me. #ya #yaaddict #romantsy #readdiverseauthors #pocauthor

Tameeka Oh this sounds interesting! A Jordanian-American perspective. Adding it to my TBR stack📚 7y
Chelleo @Tameeka It‘s nicely integrated into the storyline. 7y
