This is the first post COVID book that I‘ve read that put into words and sentences the brain fog and dislocation that has, for me, been a monsterously unwanted pandemic legacy. Knowing that it‘s a shared feeling, that I can know describe it and that there is hope to pull out of it was an unexpected gift this book gave me.

JohnLAndBenji It‘s not over, there is a new variant. 1y
julesG @JohnLAndBenji Somehow that was supposed to happen. Even viruses evolve. What was that famous Grisham quote? "Nature finds a way" (?) 1y
julesG Brain fog is 😖😵😤 Hope you have a fog free brain soon, Mitch. 1y
charl08 @mitch long covid is so awful. Sending 💪 1y

I listened to the audio and it did not hold my attention at all. She seemed to be all over the place chronologically, which didn‘t help. There would be something about her father, then living with the Romanovs and back and forth. Oh, and throw in some after the Romanovs were killed. Too bad – I usually do enjoy reading about the Romanovs

I found this book to be a very good read. Full of historic details but still a good fictional escape. Highly recommend this one.

So interesting, I should have learned more Russian history. This story of the Romanov children, especially the next-in-line tsar who suffered from hemophilia, was great historical fiction. Fascinating.

Yes I‘m starting this one after finishing #rasputin.. I‘m guessing it‘s another look at basically the same story from a different view.. we shall see what queen victoria thinks of all this 😉

I‘m really enjoying this book and have found a documentary on #netflix #thelastczars its much like back in school after reading and doing an essay on a book of literature you got to watch a movie depicting said book 🤗🤗🤗🤗

rubyslippersreads I enjoyed this, but thought the actor who played Rasputin wasn‘t creepy enough (although he was pretty creepy). 😏 5y
Lauraandherbooks @rubyslippersreads after reading the whole book I understand why... in some ways I guess it‘s somewhat debatable his creepiness.. the romanovs and some others didn‘t see him that way ... I myself remain undecided.. I think in many ways he was creepy and maybe he was battling his own demons and tried to be holy but him and the tsarina definitely destroyed Russia because of the people hated them and the tsar should have been stronger against them. 5y
Lauraandherbooks @rubyslippersreads I loved this story .. it‘s a terrible thing that happened but definitely interesting 5y
