#StorySettings

I was pretty obsessed with this #Prairie book when I was young in the 70s & also the tv movie/mini-series it inspired .

Written by Rose Wilder Lane (the daughter of Laura Ingalls Wilder), it tells the story of Molly & David Beaton, teenage newlyweds in the Dakota Territory during the 1870s & originally was titled Let the Hurricane Roar when it was first published in the 1930s. Pictured is the edition of the book I had.

Eggs Rose Wilder Lane was an amazing woman 6mo
LeahBergen I remember buying this at the mall bookshop when I was in junior high. 😁 6mo

Really good! Hard to put down once you start reading it, this quiet yet powerful story of a young surprised me. Her strength and independence, her intelligence and grit. Loved hearing about these settlers in the territories, though the times were hard and heartbreaking in so many ways. I understand all the love for this book! #BookspinBingo @TheAromaofBooks #roll100 @PuddleJumper

I have been listening to this podcast series during the summer. I will warn you that your notion of Laura and The #littlehouse series will be changed. Highly recommended.

This was a sweet story about a girl who desperately wants to be grown up enough to help with things in her farming village, and finds that maybe she finally is. I was intrigued that this Canadian story was banned in the US in 1992 because people complained that the mother in the book was “neglectful”. I think it says a lot more about American culture than about this book.

A winter read-aloud with my two boys that was just lovely! Terpsichore and her family make a new home in Palmer, Alaska, after the Great Depression. A charming little story of a family connecting and building community in hopes to make this raw and unfamiliar land and life into their new home. 🌲 💙🏔

The Little House books will always be a favorite of mine no matter how old I get! Just finished this fun biography of Laura Ingalls Wilder. Although the Little House books are very much autobiographical this book gave a little more insight to her life, including more of her daughter Rose, later years of married life and how she came to start writing.
