Bk2 of #AwesomeAugust #readathon is done. Wow. What a totally depressing book that was. Compelling & well written, but so sad. I grew up with an emotionally manipulative mother so it brought up a lot of stuff for me, but she was nowhere on the authors mothers level! Bk5 of July & Bk4 of #JubilantJuly #readathon is done! Another brilliant NF from the author about a double agent, but this one is an MI6 agent spying for Russia. Philby was one of the “Cambridge Five” a group of communist leaning University friends that became KGB informants. Three became MI6 while two worked for Bletchley Park & the Foreign Office. All were responsible for many deaths of agents & sympathisers & the failure of many ops. It was👇👇

Bk4 of July & Bk3 of #JubilantJuly #readathon is done. This is the story behind the #metoo movement that started with the set of articles published in the NYTimes. Ronan Farrow & the NewYorker get most of the credit but it was actually these two reporters who first chased down & published Ashley Judd & other victims stories while dealing with Weinstein‘s machinations. Bk2 of July & Bk1 of #JubilantJuly #readathon is done! Yay!🙌 The audiobook read by the author was a fantastic listen, it‘s a story I‘d never heard before. I‘m highly tempted to use this months credit on his story of Kim Philby, the English double agent. Oleg Gordievsky was a rising star in the KGB but the raising of the Berlin Wall turned his loyalty to democracy. Risking his life, he provided more secrets to MI6 than any other spy before 👇👇
