Some poets took the title literally with trees, a cactus, parks, the ocean and other natural places central to their prose. Other contributors described their internal “here.” It was less engaging than I had hoped. Some favorites: When the fact of your gaze…, Aia I Hea Ka…, Unendangered Moths, Remembering a honeymoon and To think of Italy… Only 3 ⭐️ for this collection.

Anthology. Not so much nature in these nature poems, but maybe that‘s the point. Faves: Patricia Smith‘s “To Little Black Girls, Risking Flower,” Hanif Abdurraqib‘s “There Are More Ways to Show Devotion” spider rebuilding, Jericho Brown‘s “Aerial View” giraffe. 2024

A nearly perfect collection.

I was unfamiliar with most of the poets in this collection, and it‘s almost overwhelming how good their work is here. After reading it once I‘ve been going through it again to mark some of my favorites and I find that I‘m marking almost every one of them! 😅

Truly, the only thing that could improve this would be a poem from Mrs. Limon herself.

April is National Poetry Month and 24th Poet Laureate of the United States, Ada Limon, has gifted us with this beautiful collection!

It‘s a gorgeous book with gorgeous writing and I‘m totally in love!

-7 here in Michigan today, but we‘re warm from the glow of our first playoff win in 32 years! I‘m planning a day of reading and tea. I need to post challenge pics and my bingo card too. Stay warm, MittenLittens, and all who are in the track of blizzards and frigid temps!

TheSpineView Yikes! If a day is in the mid 40s here people think we have moved Antarctica.😅 1y
MittenGirlPeach @TheSpineView we don‘t get weather like this as often anymore, but it is COLD out there. Our old English sheepdog was like—“yeah, no. Did my business, now let‘s go in Dad!” 1y

Chelsea.Poole Congrats on the win! 1y
MittenGirlPeach @Chelsea.Poole thank you so much! 🧡 1y
RamsFan1963 @MittenGirlPeach Congrats on the Lions victory on Sunday. I hated to see my Rams lose, but if it had to happen, I'm glad it was Goff and the Lions they lost to and not the Cowgirls. 1y
MittenGirlPeach @RamsFan1963 awww, thank you! Now we get to host another game, which is fabulous. Sooo happy for Jared too. 1y
RamsFan1963 @MittenGirlPeach The Lions will have no problem with the Bucs, so I'm excited to see them play the 49ers (probably) in the NFC Championship game 1y
MittenGirlPeach @RamsFan1963 🤞! So hope you‘re right! This season has been super stressful. We‘re not used to so much being on the line! 1y

I loved Benjamin Hoff's short introduction/biography of Opal Whiteley. Wow! How this child's / young woman's talent, voice and brilliant mind were squelched by her environment and the time is horrific. Who knows what she could have become if she had lived today. Her diary is extraordinary, but not for me. Still, a beautiful book that should be read.

#currentlyreading for my teacher librarian book club. Apparently it‘s divisive... we shall see. #memoir #spectrum #naturalworld #hardback #family #conservation #environmentalist #Ireland Plus #spikyplant that cut me. #ouch

Libby1 Hi! I‘m reading this right now. Can you please tell me how it‘s been divisive? I can‘t see anything in it yet to cause concern. 4y
Missusb Gosh. Uhm..I wrote that a long time ago before I read it. I think I read some reviews on Goodreads that mentioned his age and his autism. But yeah. I didn't find it a problem. I loved his voice. And he just won a huge environmental award in Ireland with it. 4y
