Check out a book to help your library‘s use stats! Plus, it‘s just a fun thing to do. Just as satisfying as buying a book, but you can go wild with it and pick up books you wouldn‘t buy!

Celebrate #NationalLibraryWeek with these actions you can take this week to support your local library! I‘ll be posting these throughout the week, plus three bonus ideas to keep you in the library spirit even after National Library Week ends.

BookmarkTavern I‘ve got three out in Libby, and I just picked up a book on CD yesterday! 💖 8h

During #nationallibraryweek , thank your librarians and library workers. Stop into the library and thank them or write them a thank you note.

One way local decision makers determine library funding is by what percent of the community has a library card. Getting a card even if you don‘t use it often is a good way to support your library!

Ruthiella I have three library cards! Two county and one city library. 📚❤️ 1d
coffees I have one but can't use it bc I have fines on it (again) *sigh* lol 19h
Kenyazero @Ruthiella nice! I have cards to multiple libraries as well since my state lets residents get a card at most libraries. 18h
Kenyazero @coffees 😱 our library is fine-free or I‘d probably be in the same boat. If I don‘t return a book that‘s a month or more late I get a replacement fee, but it gets waved when I bring the book back. 18h
PuddleJumper I've got 3. One of the towns I work in is a different county to the one I live in so I can access both county libraries. Third one is for a private subscription library which I forget about 😅 17h

When was the last time you visited a library? Simply visiting your library helps boost their usage stats to show local decision makers the impact they have on the community.

Blueberry I was there today 😄 1d
coffees I stopped going to my local one bc they asked us to sign in using personal info, 😕 but I went to a neighboring one more regularly after that xD 19h
Kenyazero @coffees that‘s a bummer, I wonder why your library started doing that! 🤕 good thing you have a neighborhood library to enjoy instead! 18h
PuddleJumper I went last week 😂 I try and go at least twice a month, more if I've finished my books. Helps me get some exercise too because I walk there and back 17h

This week(April 6-12, 2025) is #NationalLibraryWeek
Please support your local library. Get a library card. Attend a class. Print something for 10 cents.

Libraries are essential, let‘s help them stay open.

#NationalLibraryWeek, April 6-12, 2025, is a celebration which highlights the value of libraries, librarians, and library workers play in transforming lives and strengthening our communities.

If you don‘t have a library card, get one. Have friends and family get a library card. Use it!

This is one way to support libraries!

Celebrating #NationalLibraryWeek & honoring all librarians in this brave new world of having to defend the right to read. Thomas Hughes Free Public Library pic is from yesterday's visit to Rugby, TN. The #library opened in 1882 with over 5000 donated books. The utopian community didn't succeed, but the library & 7000 books remain for visitors to peruse & appreciate. A few views to add to one from @plemmdog #litsylibrarians #litsylibrarian

Pickpick

When the county council threatens to close the small-town library where June grew up and now works, it‘s all hands on deck to save it. June is an extreme introvert and struggles with stepping out of her comfort zone but she knows she can‘t stand by and let her library close.

ALA announced the Top 10 Challenged Books of 2020 today as part of #NationalLibraryWeek.
Once again I will be counting down to #BannedBooksWeek Sep 26 - Oct 2 and reading Amy I haven't previously read.
Numbers 9,8,6,4,3, & 2.

GingerAntics LGBTQIA+ has been supplanted as the top reason things were banned for “promotes anti-police message.” I don‘t get how calling out bad cops is anti-police, but okay. Not surprised Stamped got challenged and banned in places. There are some white people truly up in arms about anything that says they might not be the superior race or that they might have done something wrong. 4y
Crinoline_Laphroaig @GingerAntics Sorry I didn't see your reply until now. For some reason Litsy is not show up in my phone notifications. 4y
Crinoline_Laphroaig @GingerAntics absolutely I see that here where I live whole bunch of white Republicans acting like they've done nothing wrong. 4y

GingerAntics @Crinoline_Laphroaig oh let‘s see...just off the top of my head...they‘ve voted in people who actively restrict voting rights, they insist of forcing their religious beliefs on others (“freedom of religion” only applies to you apparently), they‘ve looked the other way or full on supported systemic racism, sexism, homophobia and xenophobia... they‘re right. They‘re so innocent. 🤦🏼‍♀️🥃 4y
GingerAntics @Crinoline_Laphroaig those people are so deluded, but if you try to come from a “lived experience” angle they lose their bloody minds. 4y
GingerAntics @Crinoline_Laphroaig I have the adult version on audio. I should have listened to it in February. 4y
