This book was originally published in 2001. It was updated and re-published with the new title in 2020 to include information about the reopening of Wood‘s death investigation in 2018. A complete biography is the best way to describe this book. Author, Suzanne Finstad, clearly spent years of her life researching and interviewing everyone associated with Wood. It is extremely detailed and thorough.

Just finished listening to this on audio and gosh it was fantastic. I love Rose McGowans voice! My daughter and I watched Rebel a couple of wks ago and I was reminded that I had this biography in my TBR. On audio it was 20 hours!
It is incredibly well researched with the memories and opinions of so many people in Natalies life - yet at the same time Finstad is able to draw a clear narrative line throughout. Natalie had an incredible life ⬇️

Centique a Russian immigrant family, a manipulative mother who pushed her into the arms of older men as a minor, psychological traumas and rebellious periods with other famous teen actors. Then there are her famous marriages to Wagner and her mysterious death in 1981. I didn‘t realise it was so mysterious. Finstad was one of the people that found new evidence⬇️ (edited) 4y
Centique which had the case reopened in 2011. The last 20% of the book is about that night and it is completely fascinating if you like an investigation and clues. This was long but excellent ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4y
Centique If you do get hold of this book make sure it has the additional chapters written in 2018 with the extra evidence. 4y

Reggie Do you think Wagner did it? And what was the evidence? Have you ever seen Imitation of Life. She‘s in the remake and there is this scene where she tells her mom to pretend she doesn‘t know her that breaks my heart. And the next scene the mother dies and she comes home crying hysterically at the funeral. It‘s so emotional and good. 4y
Centique @Reggie I think that maybe she fell in, but the people on the boat definitely failed to either a) help her when they heard her calling or b) mount a rapid response when they discovered her missing. So there‘s some moral culpability if nothing else! Fascinating how a proper investigation just never happened and they were more interested in shielding the “movie stars” from attention. Hey I just looked up that movie and it says Natalie Wood was in ⬇️ 4y
Centique @Reggie the running for that role but it went to Sandra Dee. Sounds amazing though! 4y
Centique @Reggie the extra evidence was the witness accounts from nearby boaties that were never taken, and the true timeline of events that was never drawn up by the police. And things like the coroner thought the body was found with the dinghy and it actually wasn‘t ... lots of stuff like that. 4y
Reggie @Centique oh em gee, I just went to watch a scene on YouTube and that girl looks like her. Wow all this time, lol, I always thought it was her, but it‘s not. 4y
Centique @Reggie or maybe it was the role that the dark haired girl played? Anyhow I‘ve confused us both 😂😂 Have you ever watched Rebel without a Cause? 4y
Reggie @Centique yes, I think the dark haired girl is her. No, I haven‘t. Is it worth the watch? 4y
Centique @Reggie It was one of my favourites as a teen but it‘s dated of course. I told Lucy to keep in mind this was one of the first movies that looked at teenage issues/perspectives as worthy of attention. And she thoroughly enjoyed it so that‘s a good sign. It‘s kind of an archetype of the found family concept in fiction I think. 4y
Centique @Reggie I‘m just thinking you could read the last 20% of the book if you were interested in the case. It would make sense by itself 👍 4y

“West Side Story” is one of the first films about which I have strong, vivid memories. (At the age of five, I sang “America” in the middle of McDonald‘s, to the amusement - I think - of fellow patrons. 🤷🏻‍♀️) The mystery and tragedy of Natalie Wood‘s fate is fascinating to me, and I‘m looking forward to reading this, and getting a glimpse into the woman herself. #morethanlove #natashagregsonwagner #nataliewood #memoir

It appears maybe now would be a good time to read this book, for anyone interested in the mysterious death of Natalie Wood. I read it a few years ago and strongly believe that Wagner was involved in her death, or at least knew more than he shared. There were four people on that boat. One ended up dead. Those three know something.

swishandflick Interesting! 7y
L_auren Oooh I‘ve always meant to dig in deeper on this one 7y

My #reallifeperson is Natalie Wood. Suzanne Finstad's biography of Natalie remains my favorite biography. I remember speeding through this during a weekend when I was stressed out about a guy (what else? It was 2004) and it definitely helped get my mind off of things. Buying this book while we were browsing at the bookstore was the only good thing that came out of that relationship! 😂 #octphotochallenge #nataliewood #biography ❤️📚🤓📚❤️
