Science Encyclopedia: Atom Smashing, Food Chemistry, Animals, Space, and More! | National Geographic Kids, National Geographic Society (U. S.)

I‘m just embracing my nerdy side reading a science encyclopaedia. It focuses mainly on physical and life sciences. That includes physics, chemistry, biology, and geology. Did you know that if you can measure quarks (which is what the nucleus of an atom is made out of) you can tell the future! The only problem is measuring it changes it‘s kind of like light.

Will_GH If you found a way to measure it, I want 10%. Anyway , the weird thing about quarks is that there might be a way to measure it *indirectly*, with the smallest margin known to mankind, it might be *just* right. Or I could be totally wrong. Who knows? 6y
Kyle_MacKinnon Yeah, my own theory I developed is to measure it indirectly by smashing the particles together using the LHC below its top speed almost breaking the gluons and analyzing their movements. 6y
Kyle_MacKinnon Dude, I just watched a ten minute video on string theory and it feels like me fuzzy little head is about to explode! 6y

MrsBabki I think you two could have a sitcom! I love this! 6y
Will_GH I've been thinking about making several different types of podcasts... From history to memes to economics... Oh gosh. With several different people, too. 6y
Kyle_MacKinnon I think I could be that guy with the dreamy deep voice. 6y

One of my Science Stacks:

Paul Davies, an Astrophysicist from Austrilia has long been one of my favorites. Matt Ridley, and Michio Kaku tie for second place.

Inferno: A Novel | Dan Brown

Mehso-so

#okay, so. #This #book was a solid, Dan Brown-like mystery. The usual #realistic tone, with the fictional details attached to #real #life places and #historical #events just #works. What I loved: the suggested solution to the world #overpopulation #problem. What threw #me #off: it was all fake? it wasn't? Wait, no it was? Does it #matter? Interesting: The #bad guys actually won. All in #all, a #good #read.

myers85 I wasn't a fan, mainly because as you said it was all fake. Also Langdon didn't actually accomplish anything. If he hadn't been involved the outcome would have been the same. Shame because I was really enjoying it till all the twists in the final third. 8y
