While I have not read this series yet, I love to recommend Rick Riordian for boys in 4th grade and up. #lovetorecommend #17booklove

Trying not to go crazy with #lovetorecommend for #17booklove @jess.how because... craziness is sometimes a result when I am asked for recommendations. I am sticking with this book, because it is the only book I buy every time I see it in a used bookstore so I can give copies away. A fantasy novel by an SF author, it is the story of Prince Amatus, who only has the right side of his body, and his quest to become whole. Charles Vess cover art!!!

ElizaTodd Ugh this is me this month with Shameless! I have to force myself to turn it off. 8y

Still Alice | Lisa Genova

I think I #lovetorecommend this book more than any others since I've read it. So well-researched and fantastic, so profound from Alice's point-of-view! Highly recommend. #17booklove

MrsMalaprop A great book offering amazing insights into dementia from the patient's point of view. ❤ 8y
readinginthedark @MrsMalaprop I agree! There was so much that reminded me of what my Granny went through. Very realistic. (edited) 8y

Maggie O'Farrell is my new author I #lovetorecommend - I just found her last year. And I find this book is the easiest for newbies to access. The story is deceptively easy to follow. It's only at the end that you realize the magic trick O'Farrell pulls off: she lays out the story of a woman with Alzheimer's and another woman who's been institutionalized for 50 years, in less than 250 pages, without either really saying a word.

lynneamch Yes. Yes. Yes. I agree on every count. Also loved Instuctions for a Heatwave. Just finished After You'd Gone, but warn that the title is a true indication of what happens. Her newest is SO good 8y
saresmoore Oh, I bought a used version of this. I'm looking forward to reading it! 8y
Sweettartlaura @lynneamch This Must be the Place is the first I read by her - I adore it❤️. I just find it hard to describe to people - this one is easy, yet so much more than one expects 😍 8y
Sweettartlaura @saresmoore You're in for a treat❤️ 8y

Dark Matter | Blake Crouch

I #lovetorecommend Dark Matter because it's a genre-bender. Yes, it's sci-fi. Yes, it's a thriller. Yes, it's a love story. Yes, it raises big philosophical questions. Basically, there IS something for everyone. And everyone gets exposed to something they probably wouldn't choose regularly. Love, love, love that in a book❤️😍❤️

Texreader Great description! 8y
Oliveskool Listening to this one right now! 8y
Sweettartlaura @Oliveskool You'll have to tell me how it turns out on audio. I would imagine it would be confusing, but maybe not??? 8y

Before the Fall | Noah Hawley

I talked about this book to just about everyone last year. I #lovetorecommend it because it's just a perfect story: timely, prescient, well-paced, multi-layered, that captures the zeitgeist impeccably. It's just a damn fine book all-around.

The Story of B | Daniel Quinn

While I #lovetorecommend this book, I NEVER loan it out. I found it on a dollar rack, & can't be sure I'll ever replace it if it's lost/not returned.
I thought I was getting some European romp with an exorcist & the Anti-Christ. I got an eye-opening revelation about the foundations of our totalitarian agriculture worldview.

sprainedbrain I love all of the Ishmael books. Very thought provoking. 8y
Sweettartlaura @sprainedbrain 🙌🏻. So rare to find someone who has read them🙂 8y
howjessicareads I had to read all of Daniel Quinn's books for an Econ class in college! The prof was unusual for Econ -- very much a Leaver. 🙂 8y
Sweettartlaura @jess.how Wow - what a cool discussion to bring into Econ. Must have really broadened your discussions. 8y

I #lovetorecommend this one, & since it's my most frequent re-read (& re-watch), I'm an authority on it at this point 😉. What an amazing journey. And what a perfect allegory for life & faith.

AnnieReads I listened to this one and narration was terrific. And the story!! 8y
Sweettartlaura Ooh, I might have to try it that way the next time, @AnnieReads 😍 8y

This is another one I #lovetorecommend & give as a gift. I'm not even sure why I picked it up, but it is just a beautiful piece of fiction. Steve Martin as a writer of fiction is a revelation.

The Alchemist | Paulo Coelho

This is probably my favorite book that I #lovetorecommend - I've been doing it for about 15 years. Not only that, I've given my own copy away more times than I can count😂. So I bought this 25th anniversary edition, & it stays with me now🙂
#17booklove

Suet624 Have you listened to his interview with Krista Tippetts from On Being about the journey of this book? It's good. 8y
Sweettartlaura @Suet624 Not specifically, but I have read/watched enough interviews with him to know what a journey it was. Did you see him & Oprah talk? No lie - the heavens rumbled!😯. When Paulo & Oprah talk, God & the Angels are listening 😉 8y
Suet624 😁👍🏼 8y
