In response to the UK Supreme Court's ruling today against the rights of trans people to exist, I've written the following to my MP (see in comments). I'd ask British Littens of good conscience to write to their own MP in support of our trans fellow citizens.

Bookwomble "I am very concerned about the ruling of the Supreme Court given on 16th April 2025 on the status of transgender (trans) people under the Equality Act, as it reinforces transphobic bigotry, further endangering the freedoms and wellbeing of British trans people.

While I am not myself trans, I fully support the rights of trans citizens to exist, to participate fully in the social life of our country, with the same rights of access to public and ⬇️

I am horrified by the creeping erosion of British civil liberties by socially conservative and right-wing activists, who persistently harass and target marginalised people to further their political agendas.

I would call upon you to express your full support for the rights of trans, non-binary and gender nonconforming people in any forthcoming debates about and appeals against the Supreme ⬇️

GingerAntics 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 I was very upset seeing that in my BBC news headlines. I‘m so glad there are good people in the UK fighting this nonsense. 🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍⚧️ 1w

Trashcanman It breaks my heart my friend. I‘m wishing for the best possible outcome. Well written. ❤️🏳️‍⚧️❤️🏳️‍⚧️ 1w
GingerAntics @Bookwomble nothing ever feels like enough, but it‘s a thing you can do. It‘s also one more way to stand with trans people. So it‘s definitely not nothing. 1w
Leftcoastzen Terrible, glad you wrote to them! So important!👏🏳️‍⚧️ 1w
Lesliereadsalot So shocking! We‘ve had plenty of shocks in the USA lately ourselves! 1w
AmyG Trans rights are human rights. How people live their lives, the right to live their life…affects them and no one else. Why do some people have the right to live as they choose, how they feel is best for them…and not others? A good, decent human being is just that. I am so sorry. This is horrible and heartbreaking. 1w
CarolynM Well done, you👏👏👏 1w

I finished THE GOLDEN RAVEN tonight and I have MANY EMOTIONS about Jean‘s healing journey and also how great it is when there‘s a bit with a dog.

Now begins the wait for the next book.

Mimi28 Cute doggie 🐶 want to start like either prayer or not prayer group- just a group for them I know have several hashtags. I‘m still manic off of caffeine I had earlier and birthday vibes, lol 😂 2mo

Nora Sakavic‘s new book dropped the very day I stopped regularly checking for it! Good thing Kobo sends out reminders when they know you‘re waiting on series additions.

Now I know what I‘m doing with the rest of my reading month. I bought THE GOLDEN RAVEN as soon as I got the email this morning, formally bailed on the poorly-written Shakespearean fantasy I tried last night, and dove in at lunch.

Picked this up after a patron recommended it. Definitely get some Supernatural vibes with the angels and the demons, but there‘s a lot more religion and politics of churches in here. The world is fascinating and I‘m looking forward to learning more! Plus, you know, I‘m a sucker for an epic fight scene.

I read the first 26% of THE SUNSHINE COURT earlier, then made myself put it down so it didn‘t take over my whole evening. I think it‘s gonna wreck me and I‘m gonna thank it for doing so.

Pickpick

Indie author Ben Alderson known for his spicy M/M romance finally gets a trad imprint deal! In his universe, a civil war brews between humans and the Fey leading to a halfling Robin Vale to be thrust in a realm of magic, government plotting, and political intrigue. Furthering this complication is his growing attraction to his Fey bodyguard Erix who helps realize his true heritage in this queer romantasy of A Court of Thorn and Roses.

Normally I don't care about business dealings in fiction, but it turns out when the dealings are thinly veiled takes on real life movie studio nonsense, billionaires slitting their own throats and trying to destroy an art form, well, then I care A Lot
