My daughter loves this series of books & finally got the new one, Aaron Slater, Illustrator. I just wanted to say how much I love seeing children with disabilities being represented in books. This story is about a young boy that has dyslexia, again so great to see representation. The author & illustrator also note about Dyslexia & ADD/ADHD. They note about the positive sides of these diagnoses (creativity, intelligence, & awesomeness).

What an absolutely lovely biography. I have known the Mike Mulligan steam shovel books and the others all my life, but I never thought about where they came from. Now we all do. This story was wonderful and lovingly illustrated.

I don‘t know if I would read this book or not to a group of students. It was very long and I even zoned out during some parts.

Mehso-so

This book did a very good job telling a personal story and putting in a bigger picture. While Ed was growing up, he lived in a big house in the nice part of Shanghai. He spoke of all the memories he had in the big house through the entire second world war. The afterword describes that Eddy didn‘t realize how big and dramatic the second world war was until he grew up, even though he lived through all of it.
