“Arrange the books in a way that looks good and makes sense to you—whether that‘s alphabetical by author, by subject, or by color, width, or height—or even just randomly.”

My sensation of horror just grew as I read this entire sentence. What kind of monster is Martha Stewart? Organizing by color, I‘ve seen (anxiety-inducing, but you do you) - but by width? Height? RANDOMLY?!

I don‘t think I can do this.

GingerAntics Clearly she‘s been hanging around with Snoop again. The contact high must be stunning!!! 1d
Susanita @GingerAntics 😂😂😂 1d
thebacklistbook I have done by height within alphabetical by author last name before. Except when to do it would mess up a series. 1d
Amiable I mean, I agree with the comment about arranging books in a way that makes sense to you. That‘s how my shelves are organized—it makes sense to me. I just don‘t see how arranging by height makes any sense—I‘d never be able to find what I‘m looking for! 1d

Thanks for inviting me to join the #WDNCW club @dabbe ! Thought I‘d combine it with a haiku because, well, why not? 😆

We really don‘t care
the floor is covered with hair;
it can stay right there.

We do not care that the house hasn‘t been cleaned in a month because I dislocated my hip and have been gimping around ever since. We do not care that my hair is everywhere. I‘ll vacuum tomorrow! 😵‍💫

#haikuhive #haikuaday #poetry

AmyG Oh no….feel better! The house can wait. 4mo
CBee Oh, the hair….. it‘s never ending 😂🤦‍♀️🤪 4mo

(This is maybe going to be a long post)

This is totally a #blameitonlitsy - it just kept on appearing and appearing and appearing in my feed. So who am I to fight Reading Destiny? And yes, it was a good thing to listen to it. RD knows what I need.

Because I so, so needed that book. It's short and easy to read, and it has to be. It's written for people in very dark places and those often don't have the strength and energy to read big books. ⬇

Jari-chan You can skip and browse as you like and need it.

The way of deconstructing what makes you unhappy about your cho- I mean, care works, is basically the same as the one I did when I was fighting my ED. But it never occurred to me that I needed to this with my relationship with care work as well.

Even though my therapist told me to go easy on it, to think that it‘s okay that not everything‘s done, it only ever worked a little bit. ⬇

Jari-chan It still stressed me out. A lot. That‘s why I read this book. I never realized how much shame I connected to it. That I have to learn to see my dirty floor as neutral. That it doesn‘t make me a bad person or a failure.

Wow, so much learning. But it‘s already starting to do it‘s wonders. I‘m more relaxed, more accepting. And it feels wonderful.

AmyG A good book to read. I was the same. Then I began what I called “triage”. What was the most important thing to do first and so on down the line. I also learned that I am my best friend so I talked to myself with kindness and compassion-and I learned to trust myself. It all gets done eventuallly. Your “care works” are not you. 4mo

AmyG Thank you….I am so better. 4mo
MaleficentBookDragon I‘m glad this book is helping you. My therapist recommended this book to me after I read Divergent Mind (another she recommended). They both have really helped me with understanding myself and to start letting go of shame. It‘s a work in progress. 4mo

This book strives to reset our mindsets. Society teaches us that to be a “good” person/parent/spouse we should have a neat, clean house. The author suggests that a neat, clean house is not an issue of goodness or badness; it‘s a functional issue. We aren‘t meant to be the servant to house. It is supposed to serve us. With that change in mindset, the goal is no longer perfection but function. On days when parenting, chronic pain, work, etc keeps ⬇️

Texreader us from completing a chore list or just picking or cleaning up, then do just what you need to do to make your house function for you. If you are up to doing more, great! But let go of the moral self-talk that you are not a good person if the stove isn‘t wiped down, or you skip a load of laundry. The author provides numerous suggestions on how to tackle tasks. This is a good book that anyone who keeps home should read for their own wellbeing. 6mo

lil1inblue This book is so simple, yet it was a lifesaver when I was dealing with an illness for several years. I cannot recommend it often enough! 6mo

Care tasks are morally neutral. Being good or bad at them has nothing to do with being a good person, parent, man, woman, spouse, friend. Literally nothing. You are not a failure because you can‘t keep up with laundry. Laundry is morally neutral.

TheBookHippie So necessary to learn. 6mo

Thanks for giving me grace to sit and read rather than thinking as I sit, “I should be doing this ...“
6mo
triplem80 I really appreciated this book...it enabled me to give myself grace, which can be so hard to do! 6mo
GingerAntics I‘m seeing a lot of things that for some reason, by some crazy people, have been assigned moral value when they are not moral issues at all. Can we stop that? Who are these people? They are hurting everyone and ruining everything. 6mo
