This is a great book if you are having trouble with your day-to-day house chores, or if you are depressed and feel like every small task is a mountain. I'm not at that stage right now. So it wasn't what I was looking for. My stuff is tucked into cupboards and closets, under beds and inside storage containers. My house is clean. It is NOT organized. I want to purge the house of everything unnecessary. This book made me feel like I'm doing great.🙈

lil1inblue This is a good one to keep on hand in case you need it. I went through some health issues for several years, and this was a life saver.
And you ARE doing great! 😉

ItsAnotherJen @lil1inblue 🥰 Thank you!! I do think think this book has great merit. I will keep it in mind as something to recommend to those who might need it. I think I need to look more into the philosophy behind death cleaning. There is so much to be gained from letting go of excess belongings. I haven't had to move in 20 years, so I've accumulated too much. 3w
Scochrane26 Therapists in my agency recommend this one a lot to clients. It‘s not for everyone but good for certain people. 3w

Schnoebs I felt the same way, I did end up following this up with the tagged book. It made me rethink why I‘m holding on to certain things. I‘m honestly thinking about rereading it at some point to make me reevaluate things again. 3w
Kitta Ive been on the waiting list for this one from Libby for a long time. Why is it so popular right now? 3w
Reggie Omg, dishes, I leave them for a week and as soon as I do them, they‘re back. I absolutely hate them. lol maybe this book will help me out. Stacked. 3w
ItsAnotherJen @Schnoebs I'm reading that one right now!! It's exactly what I needed too. 3w
ItsAnotherJen @Kitta It's the time of year-New Years resolutions are a big deal right now. Organization and getting rid of stuff is one of mine and I think a lot of people are in the same boat. 3w
Sparklemn The author had an opinion piece in The NY Times last week if anyone is interested in reading it. https://www.nytimes.com/2025/01/01/opinion/celebrating-messiness.html?unlocked_a... 3w
Kitta @ItsAnotherJen ahhh okay yeah that makes sense then, I forgot somehow? 😅 My library has 85 people waiting. I think I could use it so I‘ll read it. (edited) 3w
Kitta @Sparklemn thank you! 3w
ItsAnotherJen @Sparklemn Thank you for the article rec! I can't embrace my messiness right now though, I need to embrace throwing away or donating things. 😬 I think it would be so liberating to own less🎉🎉 3w

An interesting look at decluttering. This takes a different approach to many other books of similar style and yet it's a method that could work. I liked the simplicity of it and can see myself using some of the tips featured in it especially the dishes as seen by my clear worktop. 3*

DogMomIrene She definitely keeps cleaning in good perspective. I‘m a perfectionist so shifting from the desire to have the perfectly cleaned home like it‘s a one and done kind of task to the more realistic view that cleaning is an ongoing task, everyday, was really helpful for me. 2w
kezzlou85 @DogMomIrene she does we've just moved to a bigger house and it can feel overwhelming at times but this book helped put it back in perspective for me. 2w
DogMomIrene @kezzlou85 If you want a refresh on her big ideas in another 6 months or year, check out . There‘s much less explanation of her ideas so it‘s less repetitive. It cuts to the point. 2w
kezzlou85 @DogMomIrene thank you so much. I will check that out. 2w

Short tips and techniques to keep your house clean. Found some useful ones in there but would need to figure out the English equivalent to some of these. Not the most festive but a library hold and got a line in bingo. #WinterGames2024 55pts #HolidayBookDragons @LiseWorks

HaleyAdene I think reading this would make me feel like a dingy cave troll! lol 2mo
kezzlou85 @HaleyAdene it did make me feel a little like that i must admit. 2mo

I wouldn't have picked this one up if it wasn't for @sebrittainclark 's #AuldLangSpine list but I'm glad I did! This was a really helpful and encouraging book on how to keep your home livable without stressing yourself out more. I don't have ADHD or depression, which is a big focus of the author's life, but anyone can relate to feeling overwhelmed by everyday tasks and she provides useful manageable tips

monalyisha Not my typical read but I‘m adding! 2mo

Professional organizers will tell you not to keep single socks. I learned the hard way that as soon as you throw out a mateless sock, you will find the missing mate. I also like to make pairs #oddsocks if they‘re a similar weight. #daysdevotedto

Suet624 Yes! The second one always comes a-calling. 2mo
MatchlessMarie I made a bulletin board with the headline Tosey Wosies Most Wanted where I pin my singles till they find their match.. like sock jail 😅 2mo
lil1inblue I just keep a basket of unmated socks. As long as they're the same length and weight, I'll wear them. 😂 2mo

lil1inblue @MatchlessMarie I love this. 😍 2mo
Susanita @MatchlessMarie @lil1inblue I like those ideas. I have a little basket too for mateless socks, whether from holes in the toes or getting lost in the laundry. I‘ve also started washing them in a mesh bag to prevent the latter. 2mo
BarbaraBB I have a what we call ‘lonely socks basket‘ in which I collect all single socks. Once every few months I sort them out and sometimes a pair can be reunited 🤣 2mo
Anna40 Funny. I mostly never find the missing sock partner. Seinfeld had a funny joke in one of his recent standups about the phenomenon of the lonely sock 😊 2mo

It‘s amazing the power of hearing that you‘re not alone in your sense of drowning. Life is still a struggle, but Davis‘ words have given me hope, courage, and even skills to help work my way through it. The practical advice provided is actual advice that can help with setting priorities, getting through life tasks that can be or seem overwhelming, and realizing/accepting that you are not a failure for not maintaining an Insta worthy environment.

A late update to my #ReadingBracket2024
I only finished one nonfiction book in September. It was a quick yet encouraging listen
