so-soThis is a good children‘s book. I wasn‘t thrilled with some of the “crap” Joanna piled onto Maggie. Joanna was nice and was dealing with her own issues, but I was not impressed that she dragged Maggie into some of those things, at only 13 years old. The nature descriptions were very nice.
pickThis is a great story. A young man is hunting rare birds and I think he's stuffing them? Or studying them somehow? He offers a young girl $10, which would be a lot for her and her grandma, asking her for help tracking down a rare white heron. She knows where the bird is, but does she tell him? Do we make a personal sacrifice for the greater good?

I think this book would be more appropriate for older children, like middle school age. I don‘t think this would really allow younger children to see the real joy and value of poetry.
panThis anthology is definitely for older kids. The rhythm is not as obvious as some others. There also isn‘t any obvious alliterations or onomatopoeia that that‘d enjoy. There also isn‘t any internal or external rhyme.
