“It‘s a very unusual book of poems, and it's all mine!”

Invite kids to write their own “horrible” poems, encouraging creativity and playful language.
I was torn between pick and so-so. This is my 2nd read and my kids love it, but reading it out loud sucks. I love Roald Dahl and usually love his made up words but the giant only speaks in them. So my kids stop me from reading to discuss what does he mean? Eventually I just read the words he was intending to say so we could get into the story and just said some like phizzwizard. Husband used to edit a sci fi newsletter and I met a number of sci fi authors when we attended some conferences. The most memorable was James Hogan mainly because I read some of his books. Skipping the super technical stuff, his stories were amazing (like the tagged). Also met Gregory Benford and Brad Lineaweaver. Probably more but this was in the 1990s and my memory fades
I‘d like to meet Lisa See & James Rollins
What a strange and bittersweet book. The friendships Peggy formed with James and his family were complicated and her emotional attachment to them strikes multiple chords.
In not sure if I‘ve ever read about a 8 foot tall person unless it was in fantasy. This really felt like historical fiction, I would believe it if told it were based on a true story.
@AmyG I feel like you might enjoy this one.

“The next day, when Jack woke up in the morning and looked out of the window, he saw that a huge beanstalk had grown from his magic beans!
I love this book because it is very creative and there are so many activities that could go along with it. It is also very engaging as you can create actions and voices that go along with the story.
This story was always one of my favorites growing up because it let my imagination run wild. I used to think about what it was like for jack when he was up the beanstalk with the giants. I always wanted to see what a Giant looked like.
“What with showing the golden harp and selling the golden eggs, Jack and his mother became very rich.“
