This one starts with a #fauxmance between Sophy and Josh- she needs a date to keep her mom off her back, and he's just the guy to do it. But of course, Sophy develops real feelings for him, just as a family drama starts to heat up. The popular movie The Wedding Date was based on this book, but changed some important elements of the story. #TropesInAugust

This is probably my favorite Sarah Waters title and it does have a #fauxmance of sorts, but not in the typical Romance genre way...instead the fake romance is a way to cheat someone out of their rightful inheritance...

There is so many books with this plot of having to fake a relationship or marriage it is almost a cliche.

So the brides sister has her and someone else go in their place. Only problem is the sister and guy can‘t stand each other.

Fake relationship for publicity

Nicole Richie & Brody Jenner briefly dated in 2006. Brody and his good friend Spencer Pratt gave an interview to Details magazine. Spencer revealed that Brody only dated Nicole for publicity. Brody claimed that he really cared about Nicole. No one really believed him though. If he really cared, he probably wouldn‘t have waited so long to speak up.
