Mehso-so

2.5/5
If it had been marketed as fiction, my rating would have been higher.
But read as a fiction, this book is emotional and interesting, it's a nice story about the friendship between an elephant and his caretaker. The main thing that bothered me while reading it was the lack of chronological elements. Also, a lack of nuances in describing the bad characters (very manichean). Too much pathos at times, but I learned a lot about elephants.

For those who know this title. 😊 My daughter replaced the original mug that broke because she knew I loved it. Mo Willems is for her what Dr. Seuss was for me as a first reader.

My late Rooibus Tea Happy Hour Reading of 13 Steps Down. Thoroughly enjoying it!

tpixie Great mug! 3mo
TEArificbooks My kiddo loves mo Willems too especially the elephant piggie books or he did when he was little. But since they were his favorite we kept them through all the book purges over the years 3mo

#JuneSpecials Day 3: We also feature kid reviewers over at GatheringBooks and call them Quill Junior. Here is a preview of Randall Koh‘s thoughts on Horton Hatches The #Egg:
“My favourite character is Horton because he is kind-hearted, caring and helpful. Even though the hunters caught him, he did not run away from the tree. Instead he sat and he sat on the egg in the nest that was not the tree.”

This was the coolest thing ever. The town next to me had massive flooding several years in a row. They decided to move the library to higher ground. The route they had to take, the corners they had to turn, the bridge they had to go over….and they did it. Check out this video of the move.

One of my favorite middle grade novels was Counting by 7's by Holly Goldberg Sloan. This one was equally as sweet and hopeful. A good read for any kid who feels different or has issues in their life well out of their control.
