The Woman in Me | Britney Spears

4½✨

I can't say I'm a Britney fan, but I have a few songs I love. Funny thing, those are the songs she mentions that really means something to her.
This was such a raw, open, and honest account of what Britney had to endure. My heart bleeds for her turmoil and pain.

I hope she finds all her healing and the Woman she needs to be for herself.

Enchanted_Bibliophile I also need to add that I loved Michelle Williams as the narrator, she has such a calming effect. 13mo

4✨

When I added this one to my TBR, I thought it was a memoir by Maggie Smith (Actress)
But on closer inspection I found that it was in fact not her, but Poet Maggie Smith. So I had to change my mindset before I started listening. I've never read any of her work, but as soon as I hit play I was drawn in by her lyrical writing.
This is a deep, sad story of love, loss, and how to keep on keeping on. How to turn a Hurt into something Beautiful.

3✨. 🎧
Hypothesis: Getting older might mean I'm starting to like the rom-com genre 😱

This was cute, fun and a fast read/listen.
I'm surprised with how much I liked it despite all the cringe-worthy clichés.

Could not stop reading this one once I started. How could anyone, much less a 12 year old boy, wade through such tragedy and immense grief?
“What happened is baked into your bones, Edward. It lives under your skin. It‘s not going away. It‘s part of you and will be part of you for every moment until you die. What you‘ve been working on, since the first time I met you, is learning to live with that.” Beautiful book ♥️

Clwojick This one broke my heart. 😭 2y

Another book I finished this week. I had a hard time rating this one because for the first half of the book I felt sort of blah about Ava‘s story. But the second half I enjoyed much more.

I liked Ava‘s thoughts on grammar and some of her pointed conversations. And her relationship with Edith seemed more interesting than her one with Julian… which makes sense once we got a bit more of Ava‘s backstory towards the end. Liked it, didn‘t love it. ⬇️

MeganAnn 1/2: This was one off of @xicanti ‘s #auldlangspine list that I didn‘t get to last month. And they compared it‘s tone to Fault Lines which I completely loved — I think that‘s an accurate comparison and if you liked one you may like the other. Personally I connected better with the MC in Fault Lines, but a different person might connect better with Ava‘s story here. (edited) 2y
MeganAnn 2/2: I think the ages of the characters is a contributing factor to that as I‘m at a stage closer to Mizuki from Fault Lines as a mother comparing her younger self with who she is now while Ava is younger and sort of unsure of who she is. In the end I did appreciate the themes of classism and queerness here, just didn‘t love it as much as I wanted to. But I did check off #tangelo and #crystalrose for #pantone2023 @Clwojick 2y
xicanti I‘m glad you got something out of it, even if it wasn‘t a fave! I found the first third tedious and ordinary, but then it all clicked into place for me and I went from about to bail to totally obsessed. 2y

I really enjoyed this book and Deborah Blake is quickly becoming one of my favorite witchy authors. In this book she discusses different ideas to add to our everyday routine plus ideas for the Sabbats and full moons.

I don‘t read a lot of romance but like to occasionally throw one into the mix because an HAE once in awhile is refreshing. This was a sweet story and you couldn‘t help but root for the MC. This was my last book for #JoyousJanuary and also my pick for #Sharreadathon from her TBR. #Pantone #CrystalRose #52Books #Epilogue

Clwojick Great job! I enjoyed this one too. Definitely the authors best, in my opinion. 2y

This was a wonderful, thoughtful story about family, religion, science, addiction, and mental health. Gyasi is a brilliant writer and her prose and tender touch took my breath away. #BookspinBingo @TheAromaofBooks #Pantone2023 #crystalrose @Clwojick
