I am only able to listen to history audiobooks while at work.… but the books I choose are about the powerful and scary women in history. I‘d consider that a win.

Essentially a young Bletchley Circle set during the war and in America with a sweet sapphic love story. We have a team of 4, including a clever maid masquerading as her employer and a Black codebreaker destined to be a computer at NASA. Important war work and crimes connected in ways only the girls see.
Plenty of catnip for me!
An interesting starter bio of a remarkable woman - though the level of detail/complexity seemed to vary. Also I had hoped for a bit more time spent on spy hunting. Definitely has me interested in further reading.
Such a great picture book. I unfortunately was not so familiar with Elizabeth Friedman. Helping find spies & decode secrets in two world wars, she‘s America‘s female equivalent of Alan Turing. Thankful to #bbrc for causing me to pick this up! ⌨️🕵🏻♀️
5⭐
In a sea of mediocrity, this book was a stand-out for me. Did you know it was a woman code breaker who, in 1945, became the first American to learn that World War II had officially ended?
This fictional story highlights how these ladies helped to win WWII. As a bonus, there‘s also a possible serial killer to catch and a sweetly romantic, sapphic love story.
I am so thankful we are getting more and more detailed stories of the supporting actors from past historical events. As a child, we only have time to learn the bare basics, but digging into books like this further reinforces the knowledge that it truly takes an army to accomplish something huge, an army of all shapes and sizes, genders, talents, etc. Loved this book!!!!
I wish there was a higher rating. This books sticks to me, I think of these women often. Not only is the history fascinating, but such a well-written book.

Codebreakers have infiltrated the public imagination of wartime efforts - but what about code-makers?
