The Stolen Child | Keith Donohue

As for #booksaboutinnocence, I'd pick this one. A child was kidnapped and a changeling replaced him, living his life. The story was told in both perspective, the stealer's and the stolen's. They both lived other people's lives and found the meaning of life there. #augustofpages

elkeOriginal Loved this book - well written and such a cool cover 💕 8y
pppooraikul @elkeo Totally agree. ❤️❤️ 8y

LitHousewife I bought this book for my husband when it was first published. It's been unread this whole time. I'm thinking maybe I should pick it up and read it. Is sounds interesting. 8y
pppooraikul @readinginthedark It is! I highly recommend this one. It explored deep matters such as a person's identity yet remained light and magical. 8y
pppooraikul @LitHousewife Yes, please do! I'm also considering rereading it. It was so deep. Even if it turns out not to be your type, it's still worth the read. ☺️ 8y

The plumber has come and gone (I sent some of the cookies I baked earlier with him, as he will be working late into the night), and I've been thinking about today's photo challenge prompt all day #booksaboutinnocence, nothing came to mind...then I remembered Marie-Laure; her curiosity and sense of wonder...her innocence...her resilience. This is a book that hit me hard and has stuck with me ever since, one that I won't soon forget.

OSChamberlain I bought this book on Amazon Prime Now just to see if they really deliver it the same day (they do, lol) and I've yet to read it. 8y
britt_brooke I loved this book so much. The descriptions are stunning. 8y

#day22 of the #augustphotochallenge and I am conflicted about which book to choose. I am currently reading this on my nook and am loving it. I also thought of the classic "The Outsiders" by Hinton and a hilarious book by Sundquist called "We Should Hang Out Sometime, Embarrassingly, a True Story" #booksaboutinnocence #augustofpages

#augustofpages #augustphotochallenge #day22 #booksaboutinnocence This may sound strange, but to me, Stephen Kings books are about innocence. Might be innocence stolen or broken by the end, but most of his main characters begin the story naive & a bit fresh & clean, but have that stripped from them by evil & circumstance.

Pickpick

This is my book for #augustphotochallenge #booksaboutinnocence. This is a fascinating travel memoir about two friends who go backpacking through Asia as young girls in their early 20s. I won't spoil what happens, but the end makes you go "WHA?!??" A book about young world travelers practically SCREAMS innocence, and it's in my top 5 favorite travel memoirs.

Cinfhen I always meant to read this...thanks for the reminder😊 8y
Soubhiville Sounds like a good book! 8y
Leelee08 @Cinfhen No problem!!😀 8y
Leelee08 @Soubhiville It's very good, but different. Not your typical travel writing. 8y

Here's my choice for today's #augustphotochallenge on #booksaboutinnocence. 9/11 was a loss of innocence for Oskar and for the United States. His journey illustrates the heartbreak of grief, through the eyes of an amazing kid.

britt_brooke Such a great book! 8y
LeahBergen Good choice! 8y
Laalaleighh Gah this has one of the best opening lines!! I think about it all the time! 8y

#day22 of the #Augustphotochallenge for @TheSpinecrackersBookClub definitely a challenge today #booksaboutinnocence I found this one hard to define but eventually settled on Morpurgo because his books write wonderfully about the innocence of children and animals but at the same time show a harder side of life.

At first I held Poppy's hand with my fingers flat & all together. Poppy hated it
Poppy: that's for babies! This is the proper way, look
The proper way is to mix all your fingers of the other person. That way is more sexy. Girls just like it better. It makes your hand go proper sweaty but it still feels lovely. Only some of the rules for girlfriends are different around here. You can't chase them & make them fall over. It's banned. #augustofpages

Onioons Day22 #booksaboutinnocence Harrison Opoku is one of my all-time favourite narrators. At 11 years, this recently-arrived Ghanian, turns detective when a boy is killed on his estate. Along with his friend Dean, his binoculars & a wealth of knowledge from TVs shows, he sets out to investigate ❤️❤️🔎🔎 8y
KVanRead 😂😂😂Lovely! 8y
SusanInTiburon Sounds like something I would love. 8y

Onioons @SusanInTiburon I really love this book but I found it sad in parts. This quote is definitely one of the happier moments ❤️ 8y
GuiltyFeat I found this very 1st novel-y. 8y
Onioons @GuiltyFeat I know what you mean but the ending just floored me. It would be interesting to hear an older narrator from Kelman.... 8y
