pickI've loved Bobbie Ann Mason's novels since I read In Country in the late 80s. Blue Beret is a bit of a departure because it's mainly set in France, a WW2 American pilot retracing his escape through Occupied Europe , inspired by her father - in-laws experience. Recommended.
