Another one that has been sitting on my #tbr. From all I‘ve heard the characters in this book are strange and include a community of girls that transmute into silkworms. #peoplearestrange #authorineedtoread #octoberxfiles. Has anyone read this one or swamplandia? Thoughts?
Robothugs I have not read it but now I want to 😂 6y
Blaire @Robothugs right!?! It sounds weird in the best way. It was a gift from my sister-in-law a year or so ago. 6y
valeriegeary I read this a couple years ago and found the stories to be mostly marvelous! They were very strange, but really well done. I'd recommend it. 👍 6y

Blaire @valeriegeary great to hear!! That makes me excited to read it. 6y
BarbaraTheBibliophage Just so-so for me. 6y
Billypar I'm reading it now (about 70% through) and I love it! The silkworm story was very memorable- reminded me of a dark fable. I was reading another one before bed ('Proving Up')- not knowing it was a scary one.. definitely some issues sleeping after that one 😲 6y
Cinfhen I‘ve seen this title around but NEVER read it! I usually don‘t like short story collections but that‘s a solid endorsement from @valeriegeary and @Billypar 💙 (edited) 6y
mrp27 I've read Swamplandia and it's definitely different. There was a lot I liked about it but in the end I'm torn about it. Liked the writing just not sure I like the story. 6y
Blaire @valeriegeary @Billypar thanks for your thoughts! Makes me even more intrigued. Will bump it up the fall reading list. 6y
Blaire @BarbaraTheBibliophage good to know...I mostly like strange, but some things can be too odd. Interested to check it out. 6y
Blaire @Cinfhen yes, I may start with this over swamplandia to dip in and see if I like her style. 6y
Blaire @mrp27 interesting...if the writing‘s good that‘s usually enough to keep me from bailing. I may start with the short stories and if I like them try swamplandia. 6y
