The Atlantis Gene | A.G. Riddle
post image

3 stars

I had a few problems with this book, but I loved the main character, Kate. Some of the plot points were too easy or too unbelievable. The Atlantis Gene held my attention long enough for me to finish the book, but I won't be continuing with the series.

I really like this series. I hope it doesn't lose its momentum. This second book in the series had a few twists that surprised me.

I especially like the not-exactly-4th-wall-breaks, when a character asks a question about the plot/motives that a reader might ask.

This series is going to become an all time favourite because it really does have it all - action, banter, long buried secrets on the verge of resurfacing, a glorious found family of people trying very hard to do their best after the world hasn‘t been very kind.

This book starts off with Rune and Co trying to work out how to get Max out of his (unwanted) marriage contract to the Hanged Man & things escalate from there.

This was just okay. I did the audio and every time I listened I felt like I was watching a Disney educational reel from back in the day. This is an alt history but all of the characters were morally gray so it was hard to actually root for any of them. It also felt more like three novellas tied together by genealogy. There were definitely a lot of -isms that definitely left a bad taste.

#BookReport
I failed at all my reading goals this week but I mean it happens so I'm trying not to dwell on that. I've gotten to about 71% of the tagged and 48% in Grass. I also realized I'm never going to catch up with the ReadingWesteros read a long so I've put that book to the side and maybe I'll read it later or maybe not.

#WeeklyForecast
Goal this week is pretty much the same as last week: Finish both of my current reads.

I am posting one book per day from my extensive, and ever growing, TBR shelves. Some are old and some are new, some were gifts and some I don't remember why I bought them.

What the hecking heck. I need a hug. And some tissues. And Brand, though that is for a very different reason….
