“Most adventures have only one story to call their own.“

This story would be great for my imaginative first graders! I think the illustrations are just beautiful and you can point out the different settings and characters involved in this story. It also describes the mixed cultural identity which is important for students to embrace each others culture.
The truth about dragons, by Julie Leung published in 2023 and received the Caldecott honor in 2024. This book has SO many details and colors. The unique images stand out as the story is told of a boy going on a journey to discover the truth about dragons. It brings light to the cultivation of creativity and imagination having kids look beyond the surface and explore their own adventure!
“Her house smells of ceda chests, sugar cookies, and apple cider- a drink she will spoon for you from a cauldron.“
I think this story would be one i would want to put up on the smart board so students could take in the images because they matter in this story.
Published in 2023, Truth about Dragons is a story of a little boy led on a bed time story adventure my his mother. The art in this book was mesmerizing to look at. Each page had a short quote and there would sometimes be one large illustration while some had 3-4. It felt like each word i read was perfectly drawn out in a picture and represented the feelings of the words. When it was a happy quote, the page was full of warm, cozy images.
I have had the laziest of lazy Saturday's today.

We have not gotten out of bed today we have enjoyed naps, LOADS of reading and coffee.
